Psalm 83
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
O God, do not be silent! Do not be deaf. Do not be quiet, O God.1A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones.3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
“Come,” they say, “let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence.”4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
Yes, this was their unanimous decision. They signed a treaty as allies against you—5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
these Edomites and Ishmaelites; Moabites and Hagrites;6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites; and people from Philistia and Tyre.7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assyria has joined them, too, and is allied with the descendants of Lot. Interlude8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Do to them as you did to the Midianites and as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
They were destroyed at Endor, and their decaying corpses fertilized the soil.10Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
Let their mighty nobles die as Oreb and Zeeb did. Let all their princes die like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
for they said, “Let us seize for our own use these pasturelands of God!”12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed, like chaff before the wind!13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
As a fire burns a forest and as a flame sets mountains ablaze,14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
chase them with your fierce storm; terrify them with your tempest.15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Utterly disgrace them until they submit to your name, O LORD.16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Let them die in disgrace.17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
Then they will learn that you alone are called the LORD, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
