New Living Translation | New International Version |
Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. | 1Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. |
Why let the nations say, “Where is their God?” | 2Why do the nations say, "Where is their God?" |
Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. | 3Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. |
Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. | 4But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. |
They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. | 5They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. |
They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. | 6They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. |
They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. | 7They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. |
And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. | 8Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them. |
O Israel, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 9All you Israelites, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. |
O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 10House of Aaron, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. |
All you who fear the LORD, trust the LORD! He is your helper and your shield. | 11You who fear him, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. |
The LORD remembers us and will bless us. He will bless the people of Israel and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron. | 12The LORD remembers us and will bless us: He will bless his people Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron, |
He will bless those who fear the LORD, both great and lowly. | 13he will bless those who fear the LORD-- small and great alike. |
May the LORD richly bless both you and your children. | 14May the LORD cause you to flourish, both you and your children. |
May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth. | 15May you be blessed by the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. |
The heavens belong to the LORD, but he has given the earth to all humanity. | 16The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind. |
The dead cannot sing praises to the LORD, for they have gone into the silence of the grave. | 17It is not the dead who praise the LORD, those who go down to the place of silence; |
But we can praise the LORD both now and forever! Praise the LORD! | 18it is we who extol the LORD, both now and forevermore. Praise the LORD. |
