Temptations and Trespasses
(Mark 9:42-50; Luke 17:1-4) | 7Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! | 7“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes! | 7"Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes! | 7Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! | 7Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes. |
| 8If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. | 8And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. The Parable of the Lost Sheep
(Luke 15:1-7) | 10"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. A Brother who Sins
(Deuteronomy 19:15-21) | 15"If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. | 15“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. | 15"If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. | 15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. | 15"If your brother sins against you, go and rebuke him in private. If he listens to you, you have won your brother. |

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
(Romans 12:14-21) | 21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times?” | 21Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? | 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. | 27And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. | 27"And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. | 27Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. | 27Then the master of that slave had compassion, released him, and forgave him the loan. |
| 28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. | 28But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ | 28"But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, 'Pay back what you owe.' | 28But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. | 28"But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him 100 denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said, Pay what you owe!' |
| 29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.' | 29So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ | 29"So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you.' | 29And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. | 29"At this, his fellow slave fell down and began begging him, Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' |
| 30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. | 30He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. | 30"But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. | 30And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. | 30But he wasn't willing. On the contrary, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed. |
| 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. | 31When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. | 31"So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. | 31So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. | 31When the other slaves saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened. |
| 32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. | 32Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. | 32"Then summoning him, his lord said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. | 32Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: | 32"Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him, You wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. |
| 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' | 33And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ | 33'Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?' | 33Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? | 33Shouldn't you also have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I had mercy on you?' |
| 34In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. | 34And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. | 34"And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. | 34And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. | 34And his master got angry and handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed. |
