Support others facing faith challenges?
How can we encourage others when they face leaders who challenge their faith?

Facing the Taunt—2 Chronicles 32:15

“Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?”

Why This Verse Matters

• Sennacherib, king of Assyria, mocks Judah’s faith, claiming Yahweh is no different from powerless idols.

• The challenge is direct: “Your God can’t help you.” Many believers still hear this from bosses, professors, politicians, or cultural voices.

• Scripture’s historical record proves the taunt false; God literally delivered Jerusalem (vv. 20-22). That same unchanging God still defends His people (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8).

Ways to Encourage Others Facing Hostile Leaders

• Remind them of God’s track record

Exodus 14:13-14—He parts seas.

1 Samuel 17:45-47—He topples giants.

2 Chronicles 32:21—He strikes invading armies overnight.

• Highlight God’s promises of presence

Isaiah 41:10—“Do not fear, for I am with you.”

Matthew 28:20—“I am with you always.”

Romans 8:31—“If God is for us, who can be against us?”

• Expose the emptiness of earthly power

Psalm 2:1-4—Rulers rage; God laughs.

Daniel 4:34-35—He rules the kingdoms of men.

• Share real-life testimonies

– Stories of believers who stood firm at work or school and saw God open unexpected doors.

– Historical accounts of revival under persecution show God still intervenes.

Practical Steps to Strengthen a Friend’s Resolve

1. Speak Scripture aloud together—faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17).

2. Fast and pray as Hezekiah did (2 Chronicles 32:20).

3. Encourage worship—praise shifts focus from threat to throne (2 Chronicles 20:21-22).

4. Stand in solidarity—Jonathan’s friendship strengthened David’s hand in God (1 Samuel 23:16).

5. Write down answered prayers—record fresh evidence of God’s faithfulness.

Assurance of Ultimate Victory

2 Chronicles 32:22—“So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib.”

Revelation 17:14—“The Lamb will triumph… for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.”

Earthly leaders rise and fall, but Christ reigns forever. Those who trust Him will never be put to shame (Psalm 25:3).

Why is it important to remember God's past deliverances in challenging times?
