The Plot to Kill Jesus
(Mark 14:1–2; Luke 22:1–2; John 11:45–57)

1And it came to pass when Jesus finished all these words, He said to His disciples,

2"Ye know that, after two days, the passover takes place, and the Son of Man is delivered up to be crucified."

3Then the high priests and the elders of the people were gathered together into the court of the high priest who was called Caiaphas; 4and they consulted together that they might take Jesus by guile and kill Him. 5But they said, "Not during the feast, lest an uproar might arise among the people."

Jesus Anointed at Bethany
(Mark 14:3–9; Luke 7:36–50; John 12:1–8)

6Now, when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7there came to Him a woman having an alabaster cruse of very precious ointment, and poured it down upon His head, while reclining at table. 8And the disciples, seeing it, were much displeased, saying, "To what purpose is this waste? 9For this might have been sold for much, and given to the poor!" 10But Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, "Why do ye give trouble to the woman? for she wrought a good work for Me; 11for the poor ye always have with you; but Me ye have not always. 12For she, in pouring this ointment upon My body, did it with reference to My burial. 13Verily I say to you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in all the world, that also which this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
(Mark 14:10–11; Luke 22:3–6)

14Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, going to the high priests, 15said, "What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver Him up to you?" And they paid him thirty pieces of silver. 16And from that time he was seeking an opportunity to deliver Him up.

Preparing the Passover
(Mark 14:12–16; Luke 22:7–13)

17And on the first day of the unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where dost Thou wish that we should prepare for Thee to eat the passover?" 18And He said, "Go away into the city to such a one, and say to him, 'The Teacher saith, My time is at hand; with you I observe the passover together with My disciples.'" 19And the disciples did as Jesus directed them, and prepared the passover.

The Last Supper
(Mark 14:17–26; Luke 22:14–23; 1 Corinthians 11:17–34)

20And, evening coming on, He was reclining at table with the twelve; 21and, as they were eating, He said, "Verily I say to you, one of you will betray Me." 22And, being exceedingly grieved, they began to say to Him, each one, "Is it I, Lord?" 23And He, answering, said, "He who dipped with Me his hand in the dish, the same will betray Me. 24The Son of Man, indeed, goeth, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had never been born!" 25And Judas, who betrayed Him, answering, said, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He says to him, "You said it."

26And, as they were eating, Jesus, taking a loaf and blessing it, broke it, and giving to his disciples, said, "Take, eat, this is My body." 27And, taking a cup, and offering thanks, He gave to the disciples, saying, "Drink of it, all ye; 28for this is My blood of the covenant, which is shed in behalf of many for remission of sins. 29And I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this product of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the Kingdom of My Father."

30And, having sung praises, they went out into the mount of Olives.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
(Mark 14:27–31; Luke 22:31–38; John 13:36–38)

31Then Jesus saith to them, "All ye will be made to stumble because of Me this night; for it has been written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered abroad.' 32But, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee." 33But Peter, answering, said to Him, "If all should be made to stumble because of Thee, I will never be made to stumble." 34Jesus said to him, "Verily I say to you, that this night, before a cock crows, you will thrice deny Me." 35Peter says to Him, "Even if I must die with Thee, I will not deny Thee." Likewise also said all the disciples.

Jesus Prays at Gethsemane
(Mark 14:32–42; Luke 22:39–46)

36Then cometh Jesus with them into a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, "Sit ye here, while I, going yonder, pray." 37And, taking with Him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be grieved and to be in distress. 38Then saith He to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful even unto death! Abide ye here, and watch with Me."

39And, going forward a little, He fell on His face, praying, and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt." 40And He cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Were ye thus unable to watch with Me one hour?

41Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak."

42Again, a second time, going away, He prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is not possible that this cup should pass away except I drink it, Thy will be done," 43And, coming again, He found them sleeping; for their eyes were heavy. 44And, leaving them, going away again, He prayed a third time, saying again the same words. 45Then He cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. Behold the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who is betraying Me is at hand."

The Betrayal of Jesus
(Mark 14:43–52; Luke 22:47–53; John 18:1–14)

47And, while He is yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large multitude, with swords and clubs, from the high priests and elders of the people. 48And he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomsoever I kiss, He it is; seize Him." 49And immediately coming to Jesus, he said, "Hail, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. 50But Jesus said to him, "Comrade, do that for which you are present!" Then, coming near, they laid hands on Jesus, and took Him.

51And, behold, one of those with Jesus stretching forth his hand, grasped his sword; and, smiting the servant of the high priest, he struck off his ear. 52Then saith Jesus to him, "Return your sword to its place; for all taking a sword will perish by a sword. 53Or do you think that I cannot call upon My Father, and He will place beside Me, even now, more than twelve legions of angels? 54How, then, could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?"

55In that hour Jesus saith to the multitudes, "Did ye come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to arrest Me? Daily with you, in the temple, I was wont to sit, teaching, and ye seized me not. 56But all this has come to pass, that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples, forsaking Him, fled.

Jesus before the Sanhedrin
(Mark 14:53–65; Luke 22:66–71; John 18:19–24)

57And those who seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58And Peter was following Him afar off to the court of the high priest; and, entering within, he was sitting with the attendants to see the end.

59And the high priests and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death; 60and they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. But afterward two false witnesses, coming forward, 61said, "This Man, said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'" 62And the high priest, standing up, said to Him, "Answerest Thou nothing? What are these testifying against Thee?" 63But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to Him, "I adjure Thee by the living God, that Thou tell us whether Thou art the Christ, the Son of God" 64Jesus saith to him, "You said it: nevertheless I say to you, henceforth ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

65Then the high priest rent his garments, saying, "He blasphemed! What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, ye just now heard the blasphemy! 66What think ye?" And they, answering, said, "He is worthy of death."

67Then did they spit in His face, and buffet Him. And others smote Him, 68saying, "Prophesy to us, O Christ, who is he that struck Thee?"

Peter Denies Jesus
(Mark 14:66–72; Luke 22:54–62; John 18:15–18)

69And Peter was sitting without, in the court; and a certain maid-servant approached him, saying, "And you were with Jesus the Galilaean!" 70But he denied before them all, saying, "I know not what you are saying." 71And another maid saw him, when he walked out into the porch, and says to those there, "This man was with Jesus the Nazarene." 72And again he denied with an oath, "I do not know the Man." 73And after a little while, those who stood by, having come, said to Peter, "Truly you also are one of them; for even your speech makes you manifest." 74Then began he to curse and swear, "I do not know the Man." And straight-way a cock crowed. 75And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, saying, "Before a cock crows, you will thrice deny Me." And, going forth without, he wept bitterly.
