1  וַיַּקְהֵ֣ל (And assembled) דָּוִ֣יד (David) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) שָׂרֵ֣י (the heads) יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל (of Israel), שָׂרֵ֣י (the heads) הַשְּׁבָטִ֣ים (of the tribes), וְשָׂרֵ֣י (and the heads) הַמַּחְלְק֣וֹת (of the divisions) הַמְשָׁרְתִ֪ים (who served) אֶת־ (-) הַמֶּ֟לֶךְ (the king), וְשָׂרֵ֣י (and the heads) הָאֲלָפִ֣ים (of the thousands), וְשָׂרֵ֣י (and the heads) הַמֵּא֡וֹת (of the hundreds), וְשָׂרֵ֣י (and the heads) כָל־ (of all) רְכוּשׁ־ (the property) וּמִקְנֶה֩׀ (and possessions) לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ (of the king) וּלְבָנָ֜יו (and of his sons), עִם־ (with) הַסָּרִיסִ֧ים (the officials) וְהַגִּבּוֹרִ֛ים (and the mighty men), וּֽלְכָל־ (and all) גִּבּ֥וֹר (the mighty men) חָ֖יִל (of valor) אֶל־ (at) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (Jerusalem).

2  וַיָּ֨קָם (And rose) דָּוִ֤יד (David) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (King) עַל־ (to) רַגְלָ֔יו (his feet) וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (and said), שְׁמָע֖וּנִי (Hear me), אַחַ֣י (my brothers) וְעַמִּ֑י (and my people). אֲנִ֣י (I had) עִם־ (in) לְבָבִ֡י (my heart) לִבְנוֹת֩ (to build) בֵּ֨ית (a house) מְנוּחָ֜ה (of rest) לַאֲר֣וֹן (for the ark) בְּרִית־ (of the covenant) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH), וְלַהֲדֹם֙ (and for) רַגְלֵ֣י (the footstool) אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ (of our God), וַהֲכִינ֖וֹתִי (and I had made preparations) לִבְנֽוֹת׃ (to build it). 3  וְהָאֱלֹהִים֙ (And God) אָ֣מַר (said) לִ֔י (to me), לֹא־ (Not) תִבְנֶ֥ה (you shall build) בַ֖יִת (a house) לִשְׁמִ֑י (for My name), כִּ֣י (because) אִ֧ישׁ (a man) מִלְחָמ֛וֹת (of war) אַ֖תָּה (you are), וְדָמִ֥ים (and blood) שָׁפָֽכְתָּ׃ (you have shed).

4  וַיִּבְחַ֡ר (And chose) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵי֩ (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל (of Israel) בִּ֜י (me) מִכֹּ֣ל (above all) בֵּית־ (the house) אָבִ֗י (of my father) לִהְי֨וֹת (to be) לְמֶ֤לֶךְ (king) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (Israel) לְעוֹלָ֔ם (forever). כִּ֤י (For) בִֽיהוּדָה֙ (among Judah) בָּחַ֣ר (he chose) לְנָגִ֔יד (for a leader), וּבְבֵ֥ית (and in the house) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) בֵּ֣ית (the house) אָבִ֑י (of my father) וּבִבְנֵ֣י (and among the sons) אָבִ֔י (of my father) בִּ֣י (with me) רָצָ֔ה (He was pleased) לְהַמְלִ֖יךְ (to make king) עַל־ (over) כָּל־ (all) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel). 5  וּמִכָּ֨ל־ (And of all) בָּנַ֔י (my sons)— כִּ֚י (for) רַבִּ֣ים (many) בָּנִ֔ים (sons) נָ֥תַן (has given) לִ֖י (me) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH)— וַיִּבְחַר֙ (and also He has chosen) בִּשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה (Solomon) בְנִ֔י (my son) לָשֶׁ֗בֶת (to sit) עַל־ (on) כִּסֵּ֛א (the throne) מַלְכ֥וּת (of the kingdom) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel). 6  וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And He said) לִ֔י (to me), שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה (Solomon) בִנְךָ֔ (your son)— הֽוּא־ (he) יִבְנֶ֥ה (shall build) בֵיתִ֖י (My house) וַחֲצֵרוֹתָ֑י (and My courts), כִּי־ (for) בָחַ֨רְתִּי (I have chosen) ב֥וֹ (him to be) לִי֙ (My) לְבֵ֔ן (son), וַאֲנִ֖י (and I) אֶֽהְיֶה־ (will be) לּ֥וֹ (his) לְאָֽב׃ (Father). 7  וַהֲכִינוֹתִ֥י (And I will establish) אֶת־ (-) מַלְכוּת֖וֹ (his kingdom) עַד־ (even to) לְעוֹלָ֑ם (forever), אִם־ (if) יֶחֱזַ֗ק (he is strong) לַעֲשׂ֛וֹת (to do) מִצְוֺתַ֥י (My commandments) וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י (and My ordinances), כַּיּ֥וֹם (as the day) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this).

8  וְ֠עַתָּה (And now) לְעֵינֵ֨י (in the eyes) כָל־ (of all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל (Israel) קְהַל־ (the assembly) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH), וּבְאָזְנֵ֣י (and in the ears) אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ (of our God), שִׁמְר֣וּ (be careful) וְדִרְשׁ֔וּ (and seek out) כָּל־ (all) מִצְוֺ֖ת (the commandments) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם (your⁺ God), לְמַ֤עַן (that) תִּֽירְשׁוּ֙ (you⁺ may possess) אֶת־ (-) הָאָ֣רֶץ (the land) הַטּוֹבָ֔ה (good) וְהִנְחַלְתֶּ֛ם (and leave it as an inheritance) לִבְנֵיכֶ֥ם (for your⁺ children) אַחֲרֵיכֶ֖ם (after you⁺) עַד־ (even to) עוֹלָֽם׃פ (forever). 9  וְאַתָּ֣ה (And as for you), שְׁלֹמֹֽה־ (Solomon) בְנִ֡י (my son), דַּע֩ (know) אֶת־ (-) אֱלֹהֵ֨י (the God) אָבִ֜יךָ (of your father) וְעָבְדֵ֗הוּ (and serve Him) בְּלֵ֤ב (with a heart) שָׁלֵם֙ (perfect) וּבְנֶ֣פֶשׁ (and with a mind) חֲפֵצָ֔ה (willing), כִּ֤י (for) כָל־ (all) לְבָבוֹת֙ (hearts) דּוֹרֵ֣שׁ (searches) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH), וְכָל־ (and all) יֵ֥צֶר (the intent) מַחֲשָׁב֖וֹת (of thoughts) מֵבִ֑ין (He understands). אִֽם־ (If) תִּדְרְשֶׁ֙נּוּ֙ (you seek Him), יִמָּ֣צֵא (He will be found) לָ֔ךְ (by you); וְאִם־ (but if) תַּֽעַזְבֶ֖נּוּ (you forsake Him); יַזְנִיחֲךָ֥ (He will cast you off) לָעַֽד׃ (forever). 10  רְאֵ֣ה׀ (See) עַתָּ֗ה (now), כִּֽי־ (for) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) בָּ֧חַר (has chosen) בְּךָ֛ (you) לִבְנֽוֹת־ (to build) בַּ֥יִת (a house) לַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ (for the sanctuary). חֲזַ֥ק (Be strong) וַעֲשֵֽׂה׃פ (and do it).

The Plans for the Temple

11  וַיִּתֵּ֣ן (And gave) דָּוִ֣יד (David) לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה (to Solomon) בְנ֡וֹ (his son) אֶת־ (-) תַּבְנִ֣ית (the pattern) הָאוּלָם֩ (of the porch), וְֽאֶת־ (and) בָּ֨תָּ֜יו (its houses), וְגַנְזַכָּ֧יו (and its treasuries), וַעֲלִיֹּתָ֛יו (and its upper chambers), וַחֲדָרָ֥יו (and its chambers) הַפְּנִימִ֖ים (inner), וּבֵ֥ית (and the house) הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃ (of the mercy seat); 12  וְתַבְנִ֗ית (and the pattern) כֹּל֩ (of all) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) הָיָ֤ה (was) בָר֙וּחַ֙ (by the Spirit) עִמּ֔וֹ (with him), לְחַצְר֧וֹת (the courts) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָ֛ה (of YHWH), וּלְכָל־ (and of all) הַלְּשָׁכ֖וֹת (the chambers) סָבִ֑יב (all around), לְאֹֽצְרוֹת֙ (of the treasuries) בֵּ֣ית (of the house) הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God), וּלְאֹצְר֖וֹת (and of the treasuries) הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃ (of the holy things); 13  וּֽלְמַחְלְקוֹת֙ (and for the divisions) הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים (of the priests) וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם (and the Levites), וּֽלְכָל־ (and for all) מְלֶ֖אכֶת (the work) עֲבוֹדַ֣ת (of the service) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), וּֽלְכָל־ (and for all) כְּלֵ֖י (the articles) עֲבוֹדַ֥ת (of service in) בֵּית־ (the house) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH):

14  לַזָּהָ֤ב (Even the gold) בַּמִּשְׁקָל֙ (by weight) לַזָּהָ֔ב (for the gold), לְכָל־ (for all) כְּלֵ֖י (articles) עֲבוֹדָ֣ה (of service) וַעֲבוֹדָ֑ה (and service);

לְכֹ֨ל (and for all) כְּלֵ֤י (articles) הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ (of silver) בְּמִשְׁקָ֔ל (by weight), לְכָל־ (for all) כְּלֵ֖י (articles) עֲבוֹדָ֥ה (of service) וַעֲבוֹדָֽה׃ (and service);

15  וּמִשְׁקָ֞ל (and the weight) לִמְנֹר֣וֹת (for the lampstands) הַזָּהָ֗ב (of the gold), וְנֵרֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ (and their lamps) זָהָ֔ב (of gold), בְּמִשְׁקַל־ (by weight) מְנוֹרָ֥ה (of each lampstand) וּמְנוֹרָ֖ה (and for each lampstand), וְנֵרֹתֶ֑יהָ (and its lamps);

וְלִמְנֹר֨וֹת (and for the lampstands) הַכֶּ֤סֶף (of the silver) בְּמִשְׁקָל֙ (by weight), לִמְנוֹרָ֣ה (for the lampstand), וְנֵרֹתֶ֔יהָ (and its lamps) כַּעֲבוֹדַ֖ת (according to the service) מְנוֹרָ֥ה (of each lampstand) וּמְנוֹרָֽה׃ (and for each lampstand);

16  וְאֶת־ (and) הַזָּהָ֥ב (the gold) מִשְׁקָ֛ל (by weight) לְשֻׁלְחֲנ֥וֹת (for the tables) הַֽמַּעֲרֶ֖כֶת (of the showbread), לְשֻׁלְחַ֣ן (for) וְשֻׁלְחָ֑ן (and each table); וְכֶ֖סֶף (and silver) לְשֻׁלְחֲנ֥וֹת (for the tables) הַכָּֽסֶף׃ (of the silver);

17  וְהַמִּזְלָג֧וֹת (and the forks), וְהַמִּזְרָק֛וֹת (and the sprinkling bowls), וְהַקְּשָׂוֺ֖ת (and the pitchers) זָהָ֣ב (of gold) טָה֑וֹר (pure);

וְלִכְפוֹרֵ֨י (and bowls) הַזָּהָ֤ב (the golden) בְּמִשְׁקָל֙ (by weight) לִכְפ֣וֹר (for bowl) וּכְפ֔וֹר (and bowl);

וְלִכְפוֹרֵ֥י (and for the bowls) הַכֶּ֛סֶף (silver) בְּמִשְׁקָ֖ל (by weight) לִכְפ֥וֹר (for bowl) וּכְפֽוֹר׃ (and bowl).

18  וּלְמִזְבַּ֧ח (And for the altar) הַקְּטֹ֛רֶת (of the incense), זָהָ֥ב (gold) מְזֻקָּ֖ק (refined) בַּמִּשְׁקָ֑ל (by weight);

וּלְתַבְנִ֣ית (and for the pattern) הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗ה (of the chariot) הַכְּרֻבִ֤ים (of the cherubim) זָהָב֙ (gold) לְפֹ֣רְשִׂ֔ים (spreading) וְסֹכְכִ֖ים (and covering) עַל־ (over) אֲר֥וֹן (the ark) בְּרִית־ (of the covenant) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

19  הַכֹּ֥ל (The entirety) בִּכְתָ֛ב (is in writing) מִיַּ֥ד (from the hand) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עָלַ֣י (upon me). הִשְׂכִּ֑יל (He has made me understand) כֹּ֖ל (all) מַלְאֲכ֥וֹת (the works) הַתַּבְנִֽית׃פ (of the pattern).

20  וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) דָּוִ֜יד (David) לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה (to Solomon) בְנ֗וֹ (his son), חֲזַ֤ק (Be strong) וֶאֱמַץ֙ (and be courageous) וַעֲשֵׂ֔ה (and do it). אַל־ (Not) תִּירָ֖א (do fear) וְאַל־ (and not) תֵּחָ֑ת (be dismayed), כִּי֩ (for) יְהוָ֨ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהִ֤ים (God) אֱלֹהַי֙ (my God) עִמָּ֔ךְ (is with you). לֹ֤א (Not) יַרְפְּךָ֙ (He will leave you) וְלֹ֣א (and not) יַֽעַזְבֶ֔ךָּ (will he forsake you) עַד־ (until) לִכְל֕וֹת (the completion) כָּל־ (of all) מְלֶ֖אכֶת (the work) עֲבוֹדַ֥ת (of the service) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH). 21  וְהִנֵּ֗ה (And behold) מַחְלְקוֹת֙ (the divisions) הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים (of the priests) וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם (and the Levites) לְכָל־ (for all) עֲבוֹדַ֖ת (the service) בֵּ֣ית (of the house) הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים (of God), וְעִמְּךָ֙ (and with you) בְכָל־ (for all manner) מְלָאכָ֜ה (of workmanship) לְכָל־ (is every) נָדִ֤יב (willing) בַּֽחָכְמָה֙ (one with wisdom) לְכָל־ (for every) עֲבוֹדָ֔ה (service), וְהַשָּׂרִ֥ים (and the heads) וְכָל־ (and all) הָעָ֖ם (the people) לְכָל־ (are according to all) דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃פ (your command).
