Yahweh Is My Salvation

לְדָוִ֨ד׀ (Of David).

1יְהוָ֤ה׀ (YHWH is) אוֹרִ֣י (my light) וְ֭יִשְׁעִי (and my salvation)—

מִמִּ֣י (of whom) אִירָ֑א (shall I be afraid)?

יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH is) מָֽעוֹז־ (the strength) חַ֝יַּ֗י (of my life)—

מִמִּ֥י (from whom) אֶפְחָֽד׃ (shall I be in dread)?

2  בִּקְרֹ֤ב (In the coming near) עָלַ֨י׀ (against me) מְרֵעִים֮ (of the wicked), לֶאֱכֹ֪ל (for the eating of) אֶת־ (-) בְּשָׂ֫רִ֥י (my flesh),

צָרַ֣י (my adversaries) וְאֹיְבַ֣י (and my enemies) לִ֑י (to me), הֵ֖מָּה (they) כָשְׁל֣וּ (stumble) וְנָפָֽלוּ׃ (and fall).

3  אִם־ (Though) תַּחֲנֶ֬ה (may encamp) עָלַ֨י׀ (against me) מַחֲנֶה֮ (a host),

לֹֽא־ (not) יִירָ֪א (will fear) לִ֫בִּ֥י (my heart);

אִם־ (though) תָּק֣וּם (should rise up) עָ֭לַי (against me) מִלְחָמָ֑ה (war),

בְּ֝זֹ֗את (in this) אֲנִ֣י (I) בוֹטֵֽחַ׃ (will keep my trust).

4  אַחַ֤ת׀ (One thing) שָׁאַ֣לְתִּי (I have asked) מֵֽאֵת־ (from) יְהוָה֮ (YHWH)—

אוֹתָ֪הּ (it) אֲבַ֫קֵּ֥שׁ (do I seek)—

שִׁבְתִּ֣י (that I may dwell) בְּבֵית־ (in the house) יְ֭הוָה (of YHWH)

כָּל־ (all) יְמֵ֣י (the days) חַיַּ֑י (of my life),

לַחֲז֥וֹת (to look) בְּנֹֽעַם־ (on the beauty) יְ֝הוָ֗ה (of YHWH),

וּלְבַקֵּ֥ר (and to inquire) בְּהֵיכָלֽוֹ׃ (in His temple).

5  כִּ֤י (For) יִצְפְּנֵ֨נִי׀ (He will hide me) בְּסֻכֹּה֮ (in His shelter)

בְּי֪וֹם (in the day) רָ֫עָ֥ה (of evil);

יַ֭סְתִּרֵנִי (He will conceal me) בְּסֵ֣תֶר (under the cover) אָהֳל֑וֹ (of His tent);

בְּ֝צ֗וּר (upon a rock) יְרוֹמְמֵֽנִי׃ (He will set me high).

6  וְעַתָּ֨ה (And now) יָר֪וּם (will be held high) רֹאשִׁ֡י (my head)

עַ֤ל (over) אֹֽיְבַ֬י (my enemies) סְֽבִיבוֹתַ֗י (all around me),

וְאֶזְבְּחָ֣ה (and I will offer) בְ֭אָהֳלוֹ (in His tent) זִבְחֵ֣י (sacrifices) תְרוּעָ֑ה (of shouting);

אָשִׁ֥ירָה (I will sing), וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה (and make music) לַיהוָֽה׃ (to YHWH).

7  שְׁמַע־ (Hear), יְהוָ֖ה (O YHWH), קוֹלִ֥י (my voice)— אֶקְרָ֗א (I call)—

וְחָנֵּ֥נִי (and be merciful to me) וַעֲנֵֽנִי׃ (and answer me).

8  לְךָ֤׀ (You) אָמַ֣ר (have said) לִ֭בִּי (to my heart) בַּקְּשׁ֣וּ (Seek) פָנָ֑י (My face). אֶת־ (-)

פָּנֶ֖יךָ (Your face), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH), אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃ (I will seek).

9  אַל־ (Not) תַּסְתֵּ֬ר (should You hide) פָּנֶ֨יךָ׀ (Your face) מִמֶּנִּי֮ (from me);

אַֽל־ (not) תַּט־ (should You stretch away) בְּאַ֗ף (in anger) עַ֫בְדֶּ֥ךָ (Your servant).

עֶזְרָתִ֥י (My help) הָיִ֑יתָ (You have been);

אַֽל־ (not) תִּטְּשֵׁ֥נִי (shall You leave me) וְאַל־ (and not) תַּֽ֝עַזְבֵ֗נִי (do forsake me),

אֱלֹהֵ֥י (O God) יִשְׁעִֽי׃ (of my salvation).

10  כִּי־ (Though) אָבִ֣י (my father) וְאִמִּ֣י (and my mother) עֲזָב֑וּנִי (have forsaken me),

וַֽיהוָ֣ה (yet YHWH) יַֽאַסְפֵֽנִי׃ (will gather me in).

11  ה֤וֹרֵ֥נִי (Teach me), יְהוָ֗ה (O YHWH), דַּ֫רְכֶּ֥ךָ (Your way),

וּ֭נְחֵנִי (and lead me) בְּאֹ֣רַח (on a path) מִישׁ֑וֹר (level),

לְ֝מַ֗עַן (on account) שׁוֹרְרָֽי׃ (of my enemies).

12  אַֽל־ (Not) תִּ֭תְּנֵנִי (give me up) בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ (to the desires) צָרָ֑י (of my adversaries),

כִּ֥י (for) קָֽמוּ־ (have risen) בִ֥י (against me) עֵֽדֵי־ (witnesses) שֶׁ֝֗קֶר (false),

וִיפֵ֥חַ (and they breathe out) חָמָֽס׃ (violence).

13  לׅׄוּלֵׅׄ֗אׅׄ (Still) הֶ֭אֱמַנְתִּי (I believed) לִרְא֥וֹת (to look)

בְּֽטוּב־ (on the goodness) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH)

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) חַיִּֽים׃ (of the living).

14  קַוֵּ֗ה (Wait) אֶל־ (for) יְה֫וָ֥ה (YHWH);

חֲ֭זַק (be strong), וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ (and let be courageous) לִבֶּ֑ךָ (your heart),

וְ֝קַוֵּ֗ה (and wait) אֶל־ (for) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).
