God Presides in the Divine Assembly

מִזְמ֗וֹר (A Psalm) לְאָ֫סָ֥ף (of Asaph).

1אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים (God) נִצָּ֥ב (takes His stand) בַּעֲדַת־ (in the congregation) אֵ֑ל (of the divine);

בְּקֶ֖רֶב (among) אֱלֹהִ֣ים (the gods) יִשְׁפֹּֽט׃ (he renders judgment):

2  עַד־ (Until) מָתַ֥י (when) תִּשְׁפְּטוּ־ (will you⁺ judge) עָ֑וֶל (unjustly),

וּפְנֵ֥י (and the faces) רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים (of the wicked) תִּשְׂאוּ־ (lift up)?

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

3  שִׁפְטוּ־ (Judge for) דַ֥ל (the weak) וְיָת֑וֹם (and the fatherless);

עָנִ֖י (for the oppressed) וָרָ֣שׁ (and needy) הַצְדִּֽיקוּ׃ (bring justice).

4  פַּלְּטוּ־ (Rescue) דַ֥ל (the weak) וְאֶבְי֑וֹן (and needy);

מִיַּ֖ד (from the hand) רְשָׁעִ֣ים (of the wicked) הַצִּֽילוּ׃ (deliver them).

5  לֹ֤א (Not) יָֽדְע֨וּ׀ (they do know), וְלֹ֥א (and not) יָבִ֗ינוּ (do they understand);

בַּחֲשֵׁכָ֥ה (in the darkness) יִתְהַלָּ֑כוּ (they walk about);

יִ֝מּ֗וֹטוּ (are shaken) כָּל־ (all) מ֥וֹסְדֵי (the foundations) אָֽרֶץ׃ (of the earth).

6  אֲ‍ֽנִי־ (I) אָ֭מַרְתִּי (said), אֱלֹהִ֣ים (Gods) אַתֶּ֑ם (you⁺ are),

וּבְנֵ֖י (and sons) עֶלְי֣וֹן (of the Most High) כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃ (all of you⁺ are).

7  אָ֭כֵן (Surely) כְּאָדָ֣ם (like a man) תְּמוּת֑וּן (you⁺ will die),

וּכְאַחַ֖ד (and like one) הַשָּׂרִ֣ים (of the princes) תִּפֹּֽלוּ׃ (you⁺ will fall).

8  קוּמָ֣ה (Rise up), אֱ֭לֹהִים (O God), שָׁפְטָ֣ה (and judge) הָאָ֑רֶץ (the earth)!

כִּֽי־ (For) אַתָּ֥ה (You) תִ֝נְחַ֗ל (have an inheritance) בְּכָל־ (among all) הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ (the nations).
