But Paul and Barnabas spoke out even more boldly: "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. But since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we will leave you and go to the Gentiles.

…45And the Jews, seeing the multitudes, were filled with envy and contradicted those things which were said by Paul, blaspheming. 46Then Paul and Barnabas said boldly: To you it behoved us first to speak the word of God: but because you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold we turn to the Gentiles. 47For so the Lord hath commanded us: I have set thee to be the light of the Gentiles: that thou mayest be for salvation unto the utmost part of the earth.…
If so be they at least will hear, and if so be they will forbear, for they are a provoking house: and they shall know that there hath been a prophet in the midst of them.
They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end and let out his vineyard to other husbandmen that shall render him the fruit in due season.
And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.
To you first, God, raising up his Son, hath sent him to bless you: that every one may convert himself from his wickedness.
And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the son of God.
And when they were come to Salamina, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John also in the ministry.
But they, passing through Perge, came to Antioch in Pisidia: and, entering into the Synagogue on the sabbath day, they sat down.

But when some were hardened and believed not, speaking evil of the way of the Lord before the multitude, departing from them, he separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
And he said to me: Go, for unto the Gentiles afar off will I send thee.
But to them first that are at Damascus and at Jerusalem, and unto all the country of Judea, and to the Gentiles did I preach, that they should do penance and turn to God, doing works worthy of penance.
Be it known therefore to you that this salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles: and they will hear it.
