Good News Translation
Peter and his companions were sound asleep, but they woke up and saw Jesus' glory and the two men who were standing with him.

Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.

Peter and the other two disciples had been sound asleep. All at once they woke up and saw how glorious Jesus was. They also saw the two men who were with him.
