Good News Translation
If the LORD does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the LORD does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand guard.

A gradual canticle of Solomon. Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.
Psalm 120:1 In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me.

May he not suffer thy foot to be moved: neither let him slumber that keepeth thee.
Behold he shall neither slumber nor sleep, that keepeth Israel.
Going they went and wept, casting their seeds.  But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves.
