Psalm 83
BSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Berean Study BibleInternational Standard Version
A song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, be not silent; be not speechless; be not still, O God.1God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!
See how Your enemies rage, how Your foes have reared their heads.2See! Your enemies rage; those who hate you issue threats.
With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish,3They plot against your people and conspire against your cherished ones.
saying, “Come, let us erase them as a nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.”4They say, "Let us go and erase them as a nation so the name of Israel will not be remembered anymore."
For with one mind they plot together, they form an alliance against You—5Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you—
the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,6the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab, the Hagrites,
of Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, of Philistia with the people of Tyre.7Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
Even Assyria has joined them, lending strength to the sons of Lot. Selah8Even Assyria joined them to strengthen the descendants of Lot. Interlude
Do to them as You did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the River Kishon,9Deal with them as you did to Midian, Sisera, and Jabin at the Kishon Brook.
who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.10They were destroyed at En-dor and became as dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Punish their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, “Let us possess for ourselves the pastures of God.”12who said, "Let us possess the pastures of God."
Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind.13God, set them up like dried thistles, like straw before the wind.
As fire consumes a forest, as a flame sets the mountains ablaze,14Like a fire burning a forest, and a flame setting mountains ablaze.
so pursue them with Your tempest, and terrify them with Your storm.15Pursue them with your storm and terrify them with your whirlwind.
Cover their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD.16Fill their faces with shame until they seek your name, God.
May they be ever ashamed and terrified; may they perish in disgrace.17Let them be humiliated and terrified permanently until they die in shame.
May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are Most High over all the earth.18Then they will know that you alone— whose name is LORD— are the Most High over all the earth.
