Berean Study BibleNew International Version
A song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, be not silent; be not speechless; be not still, O God.1A song. A psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.
See how Your enemies rage, how Your foes have reared their heads.2See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.
With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish,3With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
saying, “Come, let us erase them as a nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.”4"Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more."
For with one mind they plot together, they form an alliance against You—5With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you--
the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
of Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, of Philistia with the people of Tyre.7Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
Even Assyria has joined them, lending strength to the sons of Lot. Selah8Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot's descendants.
Do to them as You did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the River Kishon,9Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.10who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
who said, “Let us possess for ourselves the pastures of God.”12who said, "Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God."
Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind.13Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind.
As fire consumes a forest, as a flame sets the mountains ablaze,14As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
so pursue them with Your tempest, and terrify them with Your storm.15so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Cover their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD.16Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name.
May they be ever ashamed and terrified; may they perish in disgrace.17May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.
May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are Most High over all the earth.18Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD-- that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
