The LORD continued his response to Job by saying:1Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
"Should the one who is fighting the Almighty find fault with him? Let God's accuser answer."2Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
Then Job replied to the LORD. He said:3Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
"I must look insignificant to you! How can I answer you? I'm speechless. 4Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
I spoke once, but I can't answer; I tried a second time, but I won't do so anymore."5Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
The LORD answered Job from the wind storm and told him:6Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
"Stand up like a man! I'll ask you some questions, and you give me some answers!7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
Indeed would you annul my justice and condemn me, just so you can claim that you're righteous?8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
Do you have strength like God? Can you create thunder with a sound like he can?"9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
"When you have adorned yourself with exalted majesty, clothed yourself with splendor and dignity, 10Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
dispensed the fury of your anger, made sure that you have humbled every proud person,11Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
stared down and subdued every proud person, trampled the wicked right where they are,12Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
buried them in the dust together, and sent them bound to that secret place, 13Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
then I will applaud you myself! I'll admit that you can deliver yourself by your own efforts!"14Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
"Please observe Behemoth, which I made along with you. He eats grass like an ox.15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Now take a look at the strength that he has in his loins, and in the muscles of his abdomen.16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
His tail protrudes stiffly, like cedar; the sinews of his thigh interlink for strength.17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
His bones are conduits of bronze; his strong bones are like bars of iron.18His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
He is the grandest of God's undertakings, yet his creator is approaching him with his sword. 19He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
Mountains produce food for him, where all the wild animals frolic.20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
He lies under the lotus trees, hiding under reeds and marshes. 21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade, and willows that line the wadis surround him.22The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
What you see as a raging river doesn't alarm him; he is confident when the Jordan overflows.23Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Are your eyes looking to capture him, or to pierce his snout with a bridle?"24He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
