The LORD continued his response to Job by saying:1Then the LORD said to Job,
"Should the one who is fighting the Almighty find fault with him? Let God's accuser answer."2"Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it."
Then Job replied to the LORD. He said:3Then Job answered the LORD and said,
"I must look insignificant to you! How can I answer you? I'm speechless. 4"Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth.
I spoke once, but I can't answer; I tried a second time, but I won't do so anymore."5"Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; Even twice, and I will add nothing more."
The LORD answered Job from the wind storm and told him:6Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm and said,
"Stand up like a man! I'll ask you some questions, and you give me some answers!7"Now gird up your loins like a man; I will ask you, and you instruct Me.
Indeed would you annul my justice and condemn me, just so you can claim that you're righteous?8"Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?
Do you have strength like God? Can you create thunder with a sound like he can?"9"Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?
"When you have adorned yourself with exalted majesty, clothed yourself with splendor and dignity, 10"Adorn yourself with eminence and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.
dispensed the fury of your anger, made sure that you have humbled every proud person,11"Pour out the overflowings of your anger, And look on everyone who is proud, and make him low.
stared down and subdued every proud person, trampled the wicked right where they are,12"Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him, And tread down the wicked where they stand.
buried them in the dust together, and sent them bound to that secret place, 13"Hide them in the dust together; Bind them in the hidden place.
then I will applaud you myself! I'll admit that you can deliver yourself by your own efforts!"14"Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.
"Please observe Behemoth, which I made along with you. He eats grass like an ox.15"Behold now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox.
Now take a look at the strength that he has in his loins, and in the muscles of his abdomen.16"Behold now, his strength in his loins And his power in the muscles of his belly.
His tail protrudes stiffly, like cedar; the sinews of his thigh interlink for strength.17"He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together.
His bones are conduits of bronze; his strong bones are like bars of iron.18"His bones are tubes of bronze; His limbs are like bars of iron.
He is the grandest of God's undertakings, yet his creator is approaching him with his sword. 19"He is the first of the ways of God; Let his maker bring near his sword.
Mountains produce food for him, where all the wild animals frolic.20"Surely the mountains bring him food, And all the beasts of the field play there.
He lies under the lotus trees, hiding under reeds and marshes. 21"Under the lotus plants he lies down, In the covert of the reeds and the marsh.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade, and willows that line the wadis surround him.22"The lotus plants cover him with shade; The willows of the brook surround him.
What you see as a raging river doesn't alarm him; he is confident when the Jordan overflows.23"If a river rages, he is not alarmed; He is confident, though the Jordan rushes to his mouth.
Are your eyes looking to capture him, or to pierce his snout with a bridle?"24"Can anyone capture him when he is on watch, With barbs can anyone pierce his nose?
