Hebrews 10

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.1Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the reality itself of those things, it can never perfect the worshipers by the same sacrifices they continually offer year after year.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.2Otherwise, wouldn't they have stopped being offered, since the worshipers, purified once and for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?
But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.3But in the sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year after year.
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:5Therefore, as he was coming into the world, he said: You did not desire sacrifice and offering, but you prepared a body for me.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.6You did not delight in whole burnt offerings and sin offerings.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.7Then I said, "See--it is written about me in the scroll--I have come to do your will, O God."
Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;8After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings (which are offered according to the law),
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.9he then says, See, I have come to do your will. He takes away the first to establish the second.
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.10By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:11Every priest stands day after day ministering and offering the same sacrifices time after time, which can never take away sins.
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;12But this man, after offering one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.
From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.13He is now waiting until his enemies are made his footstool.
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.14For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are sanctified.
Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. For after he says:
This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;16This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, the Lord says, I will put my laws on their hearts and write them on their minds,
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.17and I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts.
Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.18Now where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,19Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus--
By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;20he has inaugurated for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh)--
And having an high priest over the house of God;21and since we have a great high priest over the house of God,
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.22let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)23Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:24And let us watch out for one another to provoke love and good works,
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.25not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,26For if we deliberately go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.27but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:28Anyone who disregarded the law of Moses died without mercy, based on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?29How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, who has regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.30For we know the one who has said, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge his people.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.31It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;32Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.
Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to taunts and afflictions, and at other times you were companions of those who were treated that way.
For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.34For you sympathized with the prisoners and accepted with joy the confiscation of your possessions, because you know that you yourselves have a better and enduring possession.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.35So don't throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.36For you need endurance, so that after you have done God's will, you may receive what was promised.
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.37For yet in a very little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.38But my righteous one will live by faith; and if he draws back, I have no pleasure in him.
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.39But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and are saved.
