Isaiah 43
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
Now, this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel: "Don't be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine. 1But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you. 2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer. I have handed over Egypt as a ransom price, Ethiopia and Seba in place of you. 3For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
Since you are precious and special in my sight, and I love you, I will hand over people in place of you, nations in place of your life. 4Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.
Don't be afraid, for I am with you. From the east I will bring your descendants; from the west I will gather you. 5Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you.
I will say to the north, 'Hand them over!' and to the south, 'Don't hold any back!' Bring my sons from distant lands, and my daughters from the remote regions of the earth, 6I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth,
everyone who belongs to me, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed--yes, whom I made! 7everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, those who are deaf, even though they have ears! 8Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears!
All nations gather together, the peoples assemble. Who among them announced this? Who predicted earlier events for us? Let them produce their witnesses to testify they were right; let them listen and affirm, 'It is true.' 9All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true.
You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe in me, and understand that I am he. No god was formed before me, and none will outlive me. 10“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.
I, I am the LORD, and there is no deliverer besides me. 11I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.
I decreed and delivered and proclaimed, and there was no other god among you. You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "that I am God. 12I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and I am God.
From this day forward I am he; no one can deliver from my power; I will act, and who can prevent it?" 13Also henceforth I am he; there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work, and who can turn it back?”
This is what the LORD says, your protector, the Holy One of Israel: "For your sake I send to Babylon and make them all fugitives, turning the Babylonians' joyful shouts into mourning songs. 14Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I send to Babylon and bring them all down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice.
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the one who created Israel, your king." 15I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”
This is what the LORD says, the one who made a road through the sea, a pathway through the surging waters, 16Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters,
the one who led chariots and horses to destruction, together with a mighty army. They fell down, never to rise again; they were extinguished, put out like a burning wick: 17who brings forth chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:
"Don't remember these earlier events; don't recall these former events. 18“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
"Look, I am about to do something new. Now it begins to happen! Do you not recognize it? Yes, I will make a road in the desert and paths in the wilderness. 19Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
The wild animals of the desert honor me, the jackals and ostriches, because I put water in the desert and streams in the wilderness, to quench the thirst of my chosen people, 20The wild beasts will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches, for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people,
the people whom I formed for myself, so they might praise me." 21the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.
"But you did not call for me, O Jacob; you did not long for me, O Israel. 22“Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!
You did not bring me lambs for your burnt offerings; you did not honor me with your sacrifices. I did not burden you with offerings; I did not make you weary by demanding incense. 23You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings, or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, or wearied you with frankincense.
You did not buy me aromatic reeds; you did not present to me the fat of your sacrifices. Yet you burdened me with your sins; you made me weary with your evil deeds. 24You have not bought me sweet cane with money, or satisfied me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins; you have wearied me with your iniquities.
I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember. 25“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
Remind me of what happened! Let's debate! You, prove to me that you are right! 26Put me in remembrance; let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right.
The father of your nation sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me. 27Your first father sinned, and your mediators transgressed against me.
So I defiled your holy princes, and handed Jacob over to destruction, and subjected Israel to humiliating abuse." 28Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary, and deliver Jacob to utter destruction and Israel to reviling.
