 | 1By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. | 1To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. |
 | 2My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! | 2O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. |
 | 3Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. | 3Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. |
 | 4Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! | 4Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. |
 | 5Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. | 5Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. |
 | 6Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. | 6Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. |
 | 7Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! | 7Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! |
 | 8The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. | 8Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. |
 | 9May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! | 9He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. |
 | 10The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. | 10All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. |
 | 11For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. | 11For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. |
 | 12The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. | 12Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. |
 | 13They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. | 13His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. |
 | 14The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. | 14The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. |
 | 15I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. | 15My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. |
 | 16Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! | 16Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. |
 | 17Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! | 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. |
 | 18See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! | 18Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. |
 | 19Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. | 19Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. |
 | 20Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! | 20Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. |
 | 21May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! | 21May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. |
 | 22O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! | 22Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. |
