 | 1By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. | 1O LORD, I give my life to you. |
 | 2My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! | 2I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. |
 | 3Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. | 3No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. |
 | 4Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! | 4Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. |
 | 5Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. | 5Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. |
 | 6Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. | 6Remember, O LORD, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. |
 | 7Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! | 7Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O LORD. |
 | 8The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. | 8The LORD is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. |
 | 9May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! | 9He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. |
 | 10The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. | 10The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. |
 | 11For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. | 11For the honor of your name, O LORD, forgive my many, many sins. |
 | 12The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. | 12Who are those who fear the LORD? He will show them the path they should choose. |
 | 13They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. | 13They will live in prosperity, and their children will inherit the land. |
 | 14The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. | 14The LORD is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. |
 | 15I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. | 15My eyes are always on the LORD, for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. |
 | 16Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! | 16Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone and in deep distress. |
 | 17Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! | 17My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! |
 | 18See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! | 18Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. |
 | 19Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. | 19See how many enemies I have and how viciously they hate me! |
 | 20Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! | 20Protect me! Rescue my life from them! Do not let me be disgraced, for in you I take refuge. |
 | 21May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! | 21May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you. |
 | 22O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! | 22O God, ransom Israel from all its troubles. |
