By David. O LORD, I come before you in prayer. 1A Psalm of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me! 2O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated. 3Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
Make me understand your ways, O LORD! Teach me your paths! 4Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.
Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long. 5Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
Remember your compassionate and faithful deeds, O LORD, for you have always acted in this manner. 6Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old.
Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my rebellious acts! Because you are faithful to me, extend to me your favor, O LORD! 7Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; According to Your lovingkindness remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O LORD.
The LORD is both kind and fair; that is why he teaches sinners the right way to live. 8Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way! 9He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way.
The LORD always proves faithful and reliable to those who follow the demands of his covenant. 10All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
For the sake of your reputation, O LORD, forgive my sin, because it is great. 11For Your name's sake, O LORD, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
The LORD shows his faithful followers the way they should live. 12Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
They experience his favor; their descendants inherit the land. 13His soul will abide in prosperity, And his descendants will inherit the land.
The LORD's loyal followers receive his guidance, and he reveals his covenantal demands to them. 14The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant.
I continually look to the LORD for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy's net. 15My eyes are continually toward the LORD, For He will pluck my feet out of the net.
Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and oppressed! 16Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted.
Deliver me from my distress; rescue me from my suffering! 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses.
See my pain and suffering! Forgive all my sins! 18Look upon my affliction and my trouble, And forgive all my sins.
Watch my enemies, for they outnumber me; they hate me and want to harm me. 19Look upon my enemies, for they are many, And they hate me with violent hatred.
Protect me and deliver me! Please do not let me be humiliated, for I have taken shelter in you! 20Guard my soul and deliver me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.
May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you! 21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for You.
O God, rescue Israel from all their distress! 22Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all his troubles.
