NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone.1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, because the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and the sea was gone.
And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.2I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.3I heard a loud voice from the throne say, "See, the tent of God is among humans! He will make his home with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There won't be death anymore. There won't be any grief, crying, or pain, because the first things have disappeared."
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”5The one sitting on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new!" He said, "Write this: 'These words are trustworthy and true.'"
And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.6Then he told me, "It has happened! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give a drink from the spring of the water of life to the one who is thirsty.
All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.7The person who conquers will inherit these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”8But people who are cowardly, unfaithful, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death."
Then one of the seven angels who held the seven bowls containing the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come with me! I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”9Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came to me and said, "Come! I will show you the bride, the wife of the lamb."
So he took me in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.10He carried me away in the Spirit to a large, high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.
It shone with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious stone—like jasper as clear as crystal.11The glory of God was its radiance, and its light was like a valuable gem, like jasper, as clear as crystal.
The city wall was broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.12It had a large, high wall with twelve gates. Twelve angels were at the gates, and the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.
There were three gates on each side—east, north, south, and west.13There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the lamb were written on them.
The angel who talked to me held in his hand a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.15The angel who was talking to me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.
When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles.16The city was cubic in shape: its length was the same as its width. He measured the city with his rod, and it measured at 12,000 stadia: Its length, width, and height were the same.
Then he measured the walls and found them to be 216 feet thick (according to the human standard used by the angel).17He also measured its wall. According to the human measurement that the angel was using, it was 144 cubits.
The wall was made of jasper, and the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.18Its wall was made of jasper. The city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.
The wall of the city was built on foundation stones inlaid with twelve precious stones: the first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,19The foundations of the city wall were decorated with all kinds of gems: The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.20the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth and the twelfth amethyst.
The twelve gates were made of pearls—each gate from a single pearl! And the main street was pure gold, as clear as glass.21The twelve gates were twelve pearls, and each gate was made of a single pearl. The street of the city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.
I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.22I saw no temple in it, because the Lord God Almighty and the lamb are its temple.
And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.23The city doesn't need any sun or moon to give it light, because the glory of God gave it light, and the lamb was its lamp.
The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.24The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.
Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there.25Its gates will never be shut at the end of the day—because there will be no night there.
And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city.26People will bring the glory and wealth of the nations into it.
Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.27Nothing unclean, or anyone who does anything detestable, and no one who tells lies will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the lamb's Book of Life will enter it.
