3The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. | 3And the children of Amram; Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam. The sons also of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. |
4Eleazar was the father of Phinehas. Phinehas was the father of Abishua. | 4Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua, |

9Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan. | 9And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan, |
10Johanan was the father of Azariah, the high priest at the Temple built by Solomon in Jerusalem. | 10And Johanan begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:) |
11Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub. | 11And Azariah begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub, |
12Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum. | 12And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum, |
13Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah. | 13And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah, |
14Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak, | 14And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak, |
15who went into exile when the LORD sent the people of Judah and Jerusalem into captivity under Nebuchadnezzar. The Levite Clans | 15And Jehozadak went into captivity, when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar. |
16 The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. | 16The sons of Levi; Gershom, Kohath, and Merari. |
17The descendants of Gershon included Libni and Shimei. | 17And these be the names of the sons of Gershom; Libni, and Shimei. |
18The descendants of Kohath included Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. | 18And the sons of Kohath were, Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel. |
19The descendants of Merari included Mahli and Mushi. The following were the Levite clans, listed according to their ancestral descent: | 19The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. And these are the families of the Levites according to their fathers. |
20The descendants of Gershon included Libni, Jahath, Zimmah, | 20Of Gershom; Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son, |
21Joah, Iddo, Zerah, and Jeatherai. | 21Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, Jeaterai his son. |
22The descendants of Kohath included Amminadab, Korah, Assir, | 22The sons of Kohath; Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son, |
23Elkanah, Abiasaph, Assir, | 23Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son, |
24Tahath, Uriel, Uzziah, and Shaul. | 24Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son. |
25The descendants of Elkanah included Amasai, Ahimoth, | 25And the sons of Elkanah; Amasai, and Ahimoth. |

31David assigned the following men to lead the music at the house of the LORD after the Ark was placed there. | 31And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest. |
32They ministered with music at the Tabernacle until Solomon built the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. They carried out their work, following all the regulations handed down to them. | 32And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order. |
33These are the men who served, along with their sons: Heman the musician was from the clan of Kohath. His genealogy was traced back through Joel, Samuel, | 33And these are they that waited with their children. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Shemuel, |

45Hashabiah, Amaziah, Hilkiah, | 45The son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah, |
46Amzi, Bani, Shemer, | 46The son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shamer, |
47Mahli, Mushi, Merari, and Levi. | 47The son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi. |
48Their fellow Levites were appointed to various other tasks in the Tabernacle, the house of God. Aaron’s Descendants | 48Their brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God. |
49Only Aaron and his descendants served as priests. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense, and they performed all the other duties related to the Most Holy Place. They made atonement for Israel by doing everything that Moses, the servant of God, had commanded them. | 49But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded. |
50The descendants of Aaron were Eleazar, Phinehas, Abishua, | 50And these are the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son, |

54This is a record of the towns and territory assigned by means of sacred lots to the descendants of Aaron, who were from the clan of Kohath. | 54Now these are their dwelling places throughout their castles in their coasts, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: for theirs was the lot. |
55This territory included Hebron and its surrounding pasturelands in Judah, | 55And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof round about it. |
56but the fields and outlying areas belonging to the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh. | 56But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. |
57So the descendants of Aaron were given the following towns, each with its pasturelands: Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa, | 57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah, namely, Hebron, the city of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs, |
58Holon, Debir, | 58And Hilen with her suburbs, Debir with her suburbs, |
59Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh. | 59And Ashan with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs: |
60And from the territory of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, each with its pasturelands. So thirteen towns were given to the descendants of Aaron. | 60And out of the tribe of Benjamin; Geba with her suburbs, and Alemeth with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities. |
61The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten towns from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh by means of sacred lots. | 61And unto the sons of Kohath, which were left of the family of that tribe, were cities given out of the half tribe, namely, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities. |
62The descendants of Gershon received by sacred lots thirteen towns from the territories of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and from the Bashan area of Manasseh, east of the Jordan. | 62And to the sons of Gershom throughout their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities. |
63The descendants of Merari received by sacred lots twelve towns from the territories of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun. | 63Unto the sons of Merari were given by lot, throughout their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. |
64So the people of Israel assigned all these towns and pasturelands to the Levites. | 64And the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities with their suburbs. |
65The towns in the territories of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, mentioned above, were assigned to them by means of sacred lots. | 65And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, which are called by their names. |
66The descendants of Kohath were given the following towns from the territory of Ephraim, each with its pasturelands: | 66And the residue of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their coasts out of the tribe of Ephraim. |
67Shechem (a city of refuge in the hill country of Ephraim), Gezer, | 67And they gave unto them, of the cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim with her suburbs; they gave also Gezer with her suburbs, |
68Jokmeam, Beth-horon, | 68And Jokmeam with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs, |
69Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon. | 69And Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs: |
70The remaining descendants of Kohath were assigned the towns of Aner and Bileam from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands. | 70And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath. |
71The descendants of Gershon received the towns of Golan (in Bashan) and Ashtaroth from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands. | 71Unto the sons of Gershom were given out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs: |
72From the territory of Issachar, they were given Kedesh, Daberath, | 72And out of the tribe of Issachar; Kedesh with her suburbs, Daberath with her suburbs, |
73Ramoth, and Anem, each with its pasturelands. | 73And Ramoth with her suburbs, and Anem with her suburbs: |
74From the territory of Asher, they received Mashal, Abdon, | 74And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs, |
75Hukok, and Rehob, each with its pasturelands. | 75And Hukok with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs: |
76From the territory of Naphtali, they were given Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, each with its pasturelands. | 76And out of the tribe of Naphtali; Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, and Hammon with her suburbs, and Kirjathaim with her suburbs. |
77The remaining descendants of Merari received the towns of Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmon, and Tabor from the territory of Zebulun, each with its pasturelands. | 77Unto the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs: |
78From the territory of Reuben, east of the Jordan River opposite Jericho, they received Bezer (a desert town), Jahaz, | 78And on the other side Jordan by Jericho, on the east side of Jordan, were given them out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jahzah with her suburbs, |
79Kedemoth, and Mephaath, each with its pasturelands. | 79Kedemoth also with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs: |
80And from the territory of Gad, they received Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim, | 80And out of the tribe of Gad; Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, and Mahanaim with her suburbs, |
81Heshbon, and Jazer, each with its pasturelands. | 81And Heshbon with her suburbs, and Jazer with her suburbs. |
