1The second allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Simeon. Their homeland was surrounded by Judah’s territory.1Then the second lot fell to Simeon, to the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families, and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance of the sons of Judah.
2Simeon’s homeland included Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah,2So they had as their inheritance Beersheba or Sheba and Moladah,
3Hazar-shual, Balah, Ezem,3and Hazar-shual and Balah and Ezem,
4Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,4and Eltolad and Bethul and Hormah,
5Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah,5and Ziklag and Beth-marcaboth and Hazar-susah,
6Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen—thirteen towns with their surrounding villages.6and Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen; thirteen cities with their villages;
7It also included Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan—four towns with their villages,7Ain, Rimmon and Ether and Ashan; four cities with their villages;
8including all the surrounding villages as far south as Baalath-beer (also known as Ramah of the Negev). This was the homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Simeon.8and all the villages which were around these cities as far as Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Simeon according to their families.
9Their allocation of land came from part of what had been given to Judah because Judah’s territory was too large for them. So the tribe of Simeon received an allocation within the territory of Judah. The Land Given to Zebulun9The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah, for the share of the sons of Judah was too large for them; so the sons of Simeon received an inheritance in the midst of Judah's inheritance.
10The third allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Zebulun. The boundary of Zebulun’s homeland started at Sarid.10Now the third lot came up for the sons of Zebulun according to their families. And the territory of their inheritance was as far as Sarid.
11From there it went west, going past Maralah, touching Dabbesheth, and proceeding to the brook east of Jokneam.11Then their border went up to the west and to Maralah, it then touched Dabbesheth and reached to the brook that is before Jokneam.
12In the other direction, the boundary went east from Sarid to the border of Kisloth-tabor, and from there to Daberath and up to Japhia.12Then it turned from Sarid to the east toward the sunrise as far as the border of Chisloth-tabor, and it proceeded to Daberath and up to Japhia.
13Then it continued east to Gath-hepher, Eth-kazin, and Rimmon and turned toward Neah.13From there it continued eastward toward the sunrise to Gath-hepher, to Eth-kazin, and it proceeded to Rimmon which stretches to Neah.
14The northern boundary of Zebulun passed Hannathon and ended at the valley of Iphtah-el.14The border circled around it on the north to Hannathon, and it ended at the valley of Iphtahel.
15The towns in these areas included Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem—twelve towns with their surrounding villages.15Included also were Kattah and Nahalal and Shimron and Idalah and Bethlehem; twelve cities with their villages.
16The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Zebulun included these towns and their surrounding villages. The Land Given to Issachar16This was the inheritance of the sons of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.
17The fourth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Issachar.17The fourth lot fell to Issachar, to the sons of Issachar according to their families.
18Its boundaries included the following towns: Jezreel, Kesulloth, Shunem,18Their territory was to Jezreel and included Chesulloth and Shunem,
19Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,19and Hapharaim and Shion and Anaharath,
20Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,20and Rabbith and Kishion and Ebez,
21Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez.21and Remeth and En-gannim and En-haddah and Beth-pazzez.
22The boundary also touched Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, ending at the Jordan River—sixteen towns with their surrounding villages.22The border reached to Tabor and Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and their border ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages.
23The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Issachar included these towns and their surrounding villages. The Land Given to Asher23This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities with their villages.
24The fifth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Asher.24Now the fifth lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families.
25Its boundaries included these towns: Helkath, Hali, Beten, Acshaph,25Their territory was Helkath and Hali and Beten and Achshaph,
26Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal. The boundary on the west touched Carmel and Shihor-libnath,26and Allammelech and Amad and Mishal; and it reached to Carmel on the west and to Shihor-libnath.
27then it turned east toward Beth-dagon, and ran as far as Zebulun in the valley of Iphtah-el, going north to Beth-emek and Neiel. It then continued north to Cabul,27It turned toward the east to Beth-dagon and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iphtahel northward to Beth-emek and Neiel; then it proceeded on north to Cabul,
28Abdon, Rehob, Hammon, Kanah, and as far as Greater Sidon.28and Ebron and Rehob and Hammon and Kanah, as far as Great Sidon.
29Then the boundary turned toward Ramah and the fortress of Tyre, where it turned toward Hosah and came to the Mediterranean Sea. The territory also included Mehebel, Aczib,29The border turned to Ramah and to the fortified city of Tyre; then the border turned to Hosah, and it ended at the sea by the region of Achzib.
30Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob—twenty-two towns with their surrounding villages.30Included also were Ummah, and Aphek and Rehob; twenty-two cities with their villages.
31The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Asher included these towns and their surrounding villages. The Land Given to Naphtali31This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.
32The sixth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Naphtali.32The sixth lot fell to the sons of Naphtali; to the sons of Naphtali according to their families.
33Its boundary ran from Heleph, from the oak at Zaanannim, and extended across to Adami-nekeb, Jabneel, and as far as Lakkum, ending at the Jordan River.33Their border was from Heleph, from the oak in Zaanannim and Adami-nekeb and Jabneel, as far as Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan.
34The western boundary ran past Aznoth-tabor, then to Hukkok, and touched the border of Zebulun in the south, the border of Asher on the west, and the Jordan River on the east.34Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor and proceeded from there to Hukkok; and it reached to Zebulun on the south and touched Asher on the west, and to Judah at the Jordan toward the east.
35The fortified towns included in this territory were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth,35The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer and Hammath, Rakkath and Chinnereth,
36Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,36and Adamah and Ramah and Hazor,
37Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor,37and Kedesh and Edrei and En-hazor,
38Yiron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh—nineteen towns with their surrounding villages.38and Yiron and Migdal-el, Horem and Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.
39The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Naphtali included these towns and their surrounding villages. The Land Given to Dan39This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their families, the cities with their villages.
40The seventh allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Dan.40The seventh lot fell to the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families.
41The land allocated as their homeland included the following towns: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh,41The territory of their inheritance was Zorah and Eshtaol and Ir-shemesh,
42Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,42and Shaalabbin and Aijalon and Ithlah,
43Elon, Timnah, Ekron,43and Elon and Timnah and Ekron,
44Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,44and Eltekeh and Gibbethon and Baalath,
45Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon,45and Jehud and Bene-berak and Gath-rimmon,
46Me-jarkon, Rakkon, and the territory across from Joppa.46and Me-jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory over against Joppa.
47But the tribe of Dan had trouble taking possession of their land, so they attacked the town of Laish. They captured it, slaughtered its people, and settled there. They renamed the town Dan after their ancestor.47The territory of the sons of Dan proceeded beyond them; for the sons of Dan went up and fought with Leshem and captured it. Then they struck it with the edge of the sword and possessed it and settled in it; and they called Leshem Dan after the name of Dan their father.
48The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Dan included these towns and their surrounding villages. The Land Given to Joshua48This was the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.
49After all the land was divided among the tribes, the Israelites gave a piece of land to Joshua as his allocation.49When they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun.
50For the LORD had said he could have any town he wanted. He chose Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the town and lived there.50In accordance with the command of the LORD they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and settled in it.
51These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the tribal leaders allocated as grants of land to the tribes of Israel by casting sacred lots in the presence of the LORD at the entrance of the Tabernacle at Shiloh. So the division of the land was completed.51These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the households of the tribes of the sons of Israel distributed by lot in Shiloh before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land.
