3 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you doing this?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it and will return it shortly. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it’; and immediately he will send it back here.” If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
4 So they went and found the colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. They untied it, And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. 5 and some who were standing there asked, “Why are you untying the colt? And some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 6 The disciples answered as Jesus had instructed them, and the people gave them permission. And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go. And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go. And they told them just as Jesus had said, and they gave them permission. They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.
7 Then they led the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, and He sat on it. And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. 11 Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if there was any fruit on it. But when He reached it, He found nothing on it except leaves, since it was not the season for figs. 14 Then He said to the tree, “May no one ever eat of your fruit again. And His disciples heard this statement. And his disciples heard <i>it</i>. And He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening. 15 When they arrived in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple <i>area</i> and began to drive out those who were selling and buying on the temple <i>grounds,</i> and He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves; On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. 16 And He would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. 17 Then Jesus began to teach them, and He declared, “ Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’ But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’ And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. And He <i>began</i> to teach and say to them, “Is it not written: ‘MY HOUSE WILL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL THE NATIONS’? But you have made it a DEN OF ROBBERS.” And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
18 When the chief priests and scribes heard this, they looked for a way to kill Him. For they were afraid of Him, because the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching. And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. And the scribes and chief priests heard <i>it</i>, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine. And the chief priests and the scribes heard <i>this,</i> and they <i>began</i> seeking how to put Him to death; for they were afraid of Him, because all the crowd was astonished at His teaching. The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.
19 And when evening came, Jesus and His disciples went out of the city. And when evening came they went out of the city. And when even was come, he went out of the city. And whenever evening came, they would leave the city. When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city.
20 As they were walking back in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from its roots. As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. 21 Peter remembered it and said, “Look, Rabbi! The fig tree You cursed has withered. And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And being reminded, Peter said to Him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree that You cursed has withered.” Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
22 “Have faith in God, Jesus said to them. And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.
23 “Truly I tell you that if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and has no doubt in his heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for him. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be <i>granted</i> to him. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive <i>them</i>, and ye shall have <i>them</i>. Therefore, I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be <i>granted</i> to you. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
25 And when you stand to pray, if you hold anything against another, forgive it, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your trespasses as well. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you for your offenses. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. [But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your offenses.”]
27 After their return to Jerusalem, Jesus was walking in the temple courts, and the chief priests, scribes, and elders came up to Him. And they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him, And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, And they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple <i>area,</i> the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him, They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him.
28 “By what authority are You doing these things? they asked. “And who gave You the authority to do them? and they said to him, “By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?” And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things? and <i>began</i> saying to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?” “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you authority to do this?”
29 “I will ask you one question, Jesus replied, “and if you answer Me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 31 They deliberated among themselves what they should answer: “If we say, ‘From heaven, He will ask, ‘Why then did you not believe him? And they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him? And they <i>began</i> considering <i>the implications</i> among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’
32 But if we say, ‘From men’... they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John truly was a prophet. But shall we say, ‘From man’?”—they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet. But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all <i>men</i> counted John, that he was a prophet indeed. But should we say, ‘From men’?”—they were afraid of the people, for they all considered John to have been a real prophet. But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ . . . “ (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)
33 So they answered, “We do not know. And Jesus replied, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things. So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. Answering Jesus, they said, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither am I telling you by what authority I do these things.” So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
