1 Chronicles 4:4
Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah and the father of Bethlehem.
Penuel was the father of Gedor,

Penuel, a name meaning “face of God,” belonged to the Judahite line of Hur and stood as the ancestral head of Gedor, a town in the hill country of Judah (Joshua 15:58). The genealogy preserves the connection between Judah’s families and the land allotted to them by God.

and Ezer was the father of Hushah.

Ezer, meaning “help,” headed the family associated with Hushah. Though little else is recorded about Hushah, its inclusion shows the careful preservation of Judah’s households and inheritances.

These were the descendants of Hur,

Hur’s family held an important place in Judah. Hur is associated with the wilderness generation, when he and Aaron supported Moses during Israel’s battle with Amalek (Exodus 17:10–12), and his line included Bezalel, the chief craftsman of the tabernacle (Exodus 31:2).

the firstborn of Ephrathah

Hur was the ancestral founder of Bethlehem (“house of bread”)’s Judahite clan. Bethlehem later became the city of David and the birthplace of Jesus Christ, the promised ruler whose coming was foretold from Bethlehem Ephrathah (Micah 5:2).

And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him. 5. And the daughter of Pharaoh came

Chronicles
The comparative indifference with which Chronicles is regarded in modern times by all but professional scholars seems to have been shared by the ancient Jewish church. Though written by the same hand as wrote Ezra-Nehemiah, and forming, together with these books, a continuous history of Judah, it is placed after them in the Hebrew Bible, of which it forms the concluding book; and this no doubt points to the fact that it attained canonical distinction later than they. Nor is this unnatural. The book
