Definition:
Glorification is the final step in the process of salvation, where believers are transformed into the perfect likeness of Jesus Christ, both spiritually and physically. It is the culmination of sanctification and the ultimate fulfillment of God's redemptive work in the life of a Christian.

Biblical Basis:
The concept of glorification is rooted in Scripture, where it is presented as the future hope and destiny of all believers. Romans 8:30 states, "And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." This verse outlines the progression from predestination to glorification, emphasizing that glorification is part of God's sovereign plan for His people.

Nature of Glorification:
Glorification involves the complete and final transformation of the believer. This transformation includes both the spiritual and physical aspects:

1. Spiritual Transformation:
Believers will be made perfect in holiness, free from sin and its effects. This is the ultimate realization of sanctification, where the believer's character is fully conformed to the image of Christ. 1 John 3:2 affirms, "Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is."

2. Physical Transformation:
The physical body will be transformed into a glorified, imperishable state. This is often associated with the resurrection of the dead and the transformation of the living at the return of Christ. Philippians 3:21 declares, "He will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself."

The Role of Christ in Glorification:
Christ is central to the believer's glorification. His resurrection is the prototype and guarantee of the believer's future glorification. As stated in 1 Corinthians 15:20-23, "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."

The Timing of Glorification:
Glorification occurs at the second coming of Christ, when He returns to establish His kingdom. At this time, the dead in Christ will be raised, and those who are alive will be transformed. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 describes this event: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise. After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord."

Implications for Believers:
The promise of glorification provides believers with hope and motivation for holy living. It assures them of their ultimate victory over sin and death and encourages them to persevere in faith. Romans 8:18 offers comfort, stating, "I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us."

Conclusion:
While glorification is a future event, it has present implications for the believer's life. It serves as a reminder of God's faithfulness and the certainty of His promises, urging believers to live in anticipation of the day when they will be fully conformed to the image of Christ.
