Miriam
Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron, is one of the earliest female prophets mentioned in the Bible. Deborah
Deborah stands out as a prominent female prophet and judge in Israel. Her account is found in Judges 4-5. As a prophetess, she provided guidance and leadership to the Israelites during a time of oppression. Judges 4:4 states, "Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time." Her role as both a spiritual and civic leader highlights the significant impact women could have in ancient Israelite society.

Huldah
Huldah is another significant female prophet mentioned in the Old Testament. During the reign of King Josiah, she is consulted regarding the Book of the Law found in the temple. Her response, recorded in 2 Kings 22:14-20 and 2 Chronicles 34:22-28, affirms the authenticity of the text and foretells the coming judgment on Judah. Her authority and insight were recognized by the king and his officials, demonstrating her respected position as a prophetess.

Anna
In the New Testament, Anna is recognized as a prophetess who served in the temple. Luke 2:36-38 describes her as a devout woman who, upon seeing the infant Jesus, gives thanks to God and speaks about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. Her role in the temple and her recognition of Jesus as the Messiah highlight her spiritual insight and dedication.

Philip's Daughters
In the early Christian church, the daughters of Philip the evangelist are noted for their prophetic gifts. Acts 21:9 mentions, "He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied." This brief reference indicates that the gift of prophecy was present among women in the early church, contributing to the spread and establishment of the Christian faith.

These examples illustrate that, while the prophetic office was predominantly male, God occasionally chose women to fulfill this vital role. Their contributions are woven into the fabric of biblical history, demonstrating that the divine message transcends gender and societal norms.
