I Will Set No Worthless Thing before My Eyes

לְדָוִ֗ד (Of David). מִ֫זְמ֥וֹר (A Psalm)

חֶֽסֶד־ (of loving devotion) וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט (and justice). 1אָשִׁ֑ירָה (I will sing)

לְךָ֖ (to You), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH), אֲזַמֵּֽרָה׃ (I will sing praises).

2  אַשְׂכִּ֤ילָה׀ (I will act wisely) בְּדֶ֬רֶךְ (in the way) תָּמִ֗ים (of integrity)—

מָ֭תַי (when) תָּב֣וֹא (will You come) אֵלָ֑י (to me)?

אֶתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ (I walk about) בְּתָם־ (in the integrity) לְ֝בָבִ֗י (of my heart)

בְּקֶ֣רֶב (in the midst) בֵּיתִֽי׃ (of my house).

3  לֹֽא־ (Not) אָשִׁ֨ית׀ (do I set) לְנֶ֥גֶד (before) עֵינַ֗י (my eyes)

דְּֽבַר־ (an object) בְּלִ֫יָּ֥עַל (of worthlessness).

עֲשֹֽׂה־ (The work) סֵטִ֥ים (of those turning aside) שָׂנֵ֑אתִי (I have hated);

לֹ֖א (it shall not) יִדְבַּ֣ק (cling) בִּֽי׃ (to me).

4  לֵבָ֣ב (Heart) עִ֭קֵּשׁ (a perverse) יָס֣וּר (shall depart) מִמֶּ֑נִּי (from me);

רָ֝֗ע (evil) לֹ֣א (not) אֵדָֽע׃ (I will know).

5  מְלוֹשְׁנִי (The one slandering) בַסֵּ֨תֶר׀ (in secret) רֵעֵהוּ֮ (his neighbor), אוֹת֪וֹ (to him)

אַ֫צְמִ֥ית (I will put an end);

גְּֽבַהּ־ (the high) עֵ֭ינַיִם (eyes) וּרְחַ֣ב (and proud) לֵבָ֑ב (of heart),

אֹ֝ת֗וֹ (him) לֹ֣א (not) אוּכָֽל׃ (am I able to endure).

6  עֵינַ֤י׀ (My eyes are) בְּנֶֽאֶמְנֵי־ (on the faithful ones) אֶרֶץ֮ (of the land),

לָשֶׁ֪בֶת (to dwell) עִמָּ֫דִ֥י (with me).

הֹ֭לֵךְ (The one walking) בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ (in the way) תָּמִ֑ים (of integrity), ה֝֗וּא (he alone)

יְשָׁרְתֵֽנִי׃ (shall minister to me).

7  לֹֽא־ (Not) יֵשֵׁ֨ב׀ (shall dwell) בְּקֶ֥רֶב (within) בֵּיתִי֮ (my house)

עֹשֵׂ֪ה (one working) רְמִ֫יָּ֥ה (deceit);

דֹּבֵ֥ר (the one speaking) שְׁקָרִ֑ים (lies)

לֹֽא־ (not) יִ֝כּ֗וֹן (shall be fixed) לְנֶ֣גֶד (before) עֵינָֽי׃ (my eyes).

8  לַבְּקָרִ֗ים (At morning) אַצְמִ֥ית (I cut off) כָּל־ (all) רִשְׁעֵי־ (the wicked) אָ֑רֶץ (of the land),

לְהַכְרִ֥ית (to cut off) מֵֽעִיר־ (from the city) יְ֝הוָ֗ה (of YHWH) כָּל־ (all) פֹּ֥עֲלֵי (workers) אָֽוֶן׃ (of iniquity).
