| 3These were Etam's sons: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash, and their sister was named Hazzelelponi. | 3And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi: |
| 4Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, Ephrathah's firstborn and the father of Bethlehem: | 4And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem. |

| 9Jabez was more honored than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez and said, "I gave birth to him in pain." | 9And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. |
| 10Jabez called out to the God of Israel: "If only you would bless me, extend my border, let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience pain." And God granted his request. | 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. |

| 14Meonothai fathered Ophrah, and Seraiah fathered Joab, the ancestor of those in the Craftsmen's Valley, for they were craftsmen. | 14And Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab, the father of the valley of Charashim; for they were craftsmen. |

| 22Jokim, the men of Cozeba; and Joash and Saraph, who married Moabites and returned to Lehem. These names are from ancient records. | 22And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And these are ancient things. |
| 23They were the potters and residents of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there in the service of the king. | 23These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work. |
| 24Simeon's sons: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul; | 24The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul: |

| 38these mentioned by name were leaders in their families. Their ancestral houses increased greatly. | 38These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly. |
| 39They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley to seek pasture for their flocks. | 39And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. |

| 41These who were recorded by name came in the days of King Hezekiah of Judah, attacked the Hamites' tents and the Meunites who were found there, and set them apart for destruction, as they are today. Then they settled in their place because there was pasture for their flocks. | 41And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks. |
