To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. | 1Praise is rightfully yours, God, in Zion; vows to you will be fulfilled. |
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. | 2All humanity will come to you, the one who hears prayer. |
Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. | 3Iniquities overwhelm me; only you can atone for our rebellions. |
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. | 4How happy is the one you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple. |
By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea: | 5You answer us in righteousness, with awe-inspiring works, God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the distant seas. |
Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power: | 6You establish the mountains by your power; you are robed with strength. |
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people. | 7You silence the roar of the seas, the roar of their waves, and the tumult of the nations. |
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice. | 8Those who live far away are awed by your signs; you make east and west shout for joy. |
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. | 9You visit the earth and water it abundantly, enriching it greatly. God's stream is filled with water, for you prepare the earth in this way, providing people with grain. |
Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof. | 10You soften it with showers and bless its growth, soaking its furrows and leveling its ridges. |
Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. | 11You crown the year with your goodness; your carts overflow with plenty. |
They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. | 12The wilderness pastures overflow, and the hills are robed with joy. |
The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. | 13The pastures are clothed with flocks and the valleys covered with grain. They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing. |
