King James BibleNET Bible
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had ceased to exist, and the sea existed no more.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.2And I saw the holy city--the new Jerusalem--descending out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: "Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any more--or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist."
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.5And the one seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new!" Then he said to me, "Write it down, because these words are reliable and true."
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.6He also said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.7The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.8But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death."
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.9Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and spoke to me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb!"
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,10So he took me away in the Spirit to a huge, majestic mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.
Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;11The city possesses the glory of God; its brilliance is like a precious jewel, like a stone of crystal-clear jasper.
And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:12It has a massive, high wall with twelve gates, with twelve angels at the gates, and the names of the twelve tribes of the nation of Israel are written on the gates.
On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.13There are three gates on the east side, three gates on the north side, three gates on the south side and three gates on the west side.
And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.14The wall of the city has twelve foundations, and on them are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.15The angel who spoke to me had a golden measuring rod with which to measure the city and its foundation stones and wall.
And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.16Now the city is laid out as a square, its length and width the same. He measured the city with the measuring rod at fourteen hundred miles (its length and width and height are equal).
And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.17He also measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits according to human measurement, which is also the angel's.
And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.18The city's wall is made of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.
And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;19The foundations of the city's wall are decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation is jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.20the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.21And the twelve gates are twelve pearls--each one of the gates is made from just one pearl! The main street of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.22Now I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God--the All-Powerful--and the Lamb are its temple.
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God lights it up, and its lamp is the Lamb.
And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.24The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring their grandeur into it.
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.25Its gates will never be closed during the day (and there will be no night there).
And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.26They will bring the grandeur and the wealth of the nations into it,
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.27but nothing ritually unclean will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or practices falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
