| 1Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge someone else. For on whatever grounds you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things. | 1Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. |
| 2Now we know that God's judgment is in accordance with truth against those who practice such things. | 2We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. |
| 3And do you think, whoever you are, when you judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape God's judgment? | 3Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? |
| 4Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God's kindness leads you to repentance? | 4Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? |
| 5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment is revealed! | 5But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. |

| 27And will not the physically uncircumcised man who keeps the law judge you who, despite the written code and circumcision, transgress the law? | 27Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law. |
| 28For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh, | 28For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. |
| 29but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the written code. This person's praise is not from people but from God. | 29But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God. |
