Praise the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. 1My soul, praise Yahweh! LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with majesty and splendor.
He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, 2He wraps Himself in light as if it were a robe, spreading out the sky like a canopy,
and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. 3laying the beams of His palace on the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind,
He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. 4and making the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants.
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. 5He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be shaken.
The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains. 6You covered it with the deep as if it were a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off--7At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away--
as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. 8mountains rose and valleys sank-- to the place You established for them.
You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. 9You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again.
He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains. 10He causes the springs to gush into the valleys; they flow between the mountains.
They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11They supply water for every wild beast; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. 12The birds of the sky live beside the springs; they sing among the foliage.
He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. 13He waters the mountains from His palace; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of Your labor.
He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, 14He causes grass to grow for the livestock and provides crops for man to cultivate, producing food from the earth,
as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. 15wine that makes man's heart glad-- making his face shine with oil-- and bread that sustains man's heart.
The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, 16The trees of the LORD flourish, the cedars of Lebanon that He planted.
where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live. 17There the birds make their nests; the stork makes its home in the pine trees.
The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs. 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; the cliffs are a refuge for hyraxes.
He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule. 19He made the moon to mark the festivals; the sun knows when to set.
You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around. 20You bring darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals stir.
The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God. 21The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. 22The sun rises; they go back and lie down in their dens.
Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. 23Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening.
How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. 24How countless are Your works, LORD! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your creatures.
Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. 25Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small.
The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. 26There the ships move about, and Leviathan, which You formed to play there.
All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. 27All of them wait for You to give them their food at the right time.
You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. 28When You give it to them, they gather it; when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. 29When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.
When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. 30When You send Your breath, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth.
May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! 31May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in His works.
He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. 32He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they pour out smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! 33I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. 34May my meditation be pleasing to Him; I will rejoice in the LORD.
May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! 35May sinners vanish from the earth and wicked people be no more. My soul, praise Yahweh! Hallelujah!
