 | 1Praise the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. | 1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, |
| 2He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, | 2Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. |
| 3and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. | 3He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; |
| 4He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. | 4He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers. |
| 5He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. | 5He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever. |
| 6The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains. | 6You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. |
| 7Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off-- | 7At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. |
| 8as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. | 8The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them. |
| 9You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. | 9You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth. |
| 10He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains. | 10He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains; |
| 11They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. | 11They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst. |
| 12The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. | 12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They lift up their voices among the branches. |
| 13He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. | 13He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works. |
| 14He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, | 14He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth, |
| 15as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. | 15And wine which makes man's heart glad, So that he may make his face glisten with oil, And food which sustains man's heart. |
| 16The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, | 16The trees of the LORD drink their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted, |
| 17where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live. | 17Where the birds build their nests, And the stork, whose home is the fir trees. |
| 18The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs. | 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the shephanim. |
| 19He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule. | 19He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting. |
| 20You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around. | 20You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about. |
| 21The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God. | 21The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God. |
| 22When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. | 22When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens. |
| 23Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. | 23Man goes forth to his work And to his labor until evening. |
| 24How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. | 24O LORD, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions. |
| 25Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. | 25There is the sea, great and broad, In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great. |
| 26The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. | 26There the ships move along, And Leviathan, which You have formed to sport in it. |
| 27All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. | 27They all wait for You To give them their food in due season. |
| 28You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. | 28You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good. |
| 29When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. | 29You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust. |
| 30When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. | 30You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground. |
| 31May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! | 31Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Let the LORD be glad in His works; |
| 32He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. | 32He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke. |
| 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! | 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. |
| 34May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. | 34Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be glad in the LORD. |
| 35May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! | 35Let sinners be consumed from the earth And let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD! |
