Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work. Words of Encouragement1Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you must stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.
Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.2I urge Euodia and Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord.
And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.3Yes, and I ask you, my true yokefellow, to help these women who have labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.5Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.
Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Paul’s Thanks for Their Gifts9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.10Now I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.11I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.
I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.12I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.13I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.14Nevertheless, you have done well to share in my affliction.
As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.15And as you Philippians know, in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church but you partnered with me in the matter of giving and receiving.
Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.16For even while I was in Thessalonica, you provided for my needs again and again.
I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.17Not that I am seeking a gift, but I am looking for the fruit that may be credited to your account.
At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.18I have all I need and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.19And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. Paul’s Final Greetings20To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Give my greetings to each of God’s holy people—all who belong to Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you their greetings.21Greet all the saints in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you greetings.
And all the rest of God’s people send you greetings, too, especially those in Caesar’s household.22All the saints send you greetings, especially those from the household of Caesar.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.23The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
