New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. | 1O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. |
Let all Israel repeat: “His faithful love endures forever.” | 2Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. |
Let Aaron’s descendants, the priests, repeat: “His faithful love endures forever.” | 3Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. |
Let all who fear the LORD repeat: “His faithful love endures forever.” | 4Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever. |
In my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. | 5I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. |
The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? | 6The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? |
Yes, the LORD is for me; he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me. | 7The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. |
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. | 8It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. |
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. | 9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. |
Though hostile nations surrounded me, I destroyed them all with the authority of the LORD. | 10All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. |
Yes, they surrounded and attacked me, but I destroyed them all with the authority of the LORD. | 11They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. |
They swarmed around me like bees; they blazed against me like a crackling fire. But I destroyed them all with the authority of the LORD. | 12They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. |
My enemies did their best to kill me, but the LORD rescued me. | 13Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. |
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. | 14The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. |
Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things! | 15The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. |
The strong right arm of the LORD is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the LORD has done glorious things! | 16The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. |
I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the LORD has done. | 17I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. |
The LORD has punished me severely, but he did not let me die. | 18The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. |
Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the LORD. | 19Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: |
These gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there. | 20This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. |
I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory! | 21I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. |
The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. | 22The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. |
This is the LORD’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. | 23This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. |
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. | 24This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. |
Please, LORD, please save us. Please, LORD, please give us success. | 25Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity. |
Bless the one who comes in the name of the LORD. We bless you from the house of the LORD. | 26Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. |
The LORD is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar. | 27God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. |
You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! | 28Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. |
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. | 29O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. |
