bestowing wealth on those who love me
This phrase highlights the promise of wisdom to those who earnestly seek and love it. In biblical context, wealth is often seen as a blessing from God, but it is not limited to material riches. The wealth here can also be understood as spiritual prosperity, wisdom, and understanding. In the Old Testament, figures like Solomon, who asked for wisdom, were granted both wisdom and material wealth (1 Kings 3:10-13). This reflects the principle that when one prioritizes divine wisdom, other blessings follow. The love for wisdom is akin to the love for God, as wisdom is personified and often seen as a representation of God's own character and truth.

and making their treasuries full
The imagery of full treasuries suggests abundance and sufficiency. In ancient times, treasuries were not only places for storing wealth but also symbols of security and stability. This phrase implies that those who pursue wisdom will find their lives enriched in various dimensions. The fullness of treasuries can be seen as a metaphor for a life filled with peace, joy, and fulfillment, which are the true riches that wisdom offers. This connects to the New Testament teaching where Jesus speaks of storing treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21), emphasizing eternal values over temporal wealth. Wisdom, as a type of Christ, offers a foretaste of the eternal riches found in a relationship with Him.

Persons / Places / Events
1. Wisdom
In Proverbs 8, Wisdom is personified and speaks as if she were a person. This chapter is a poetic depiction of Wisdom calling out to people, offering guidance and blessings to those who heed her voice.

2. Solomon
The author of Proverbs, King Solomon, is known for his wisdom, which he received from God. His writings often emphasize the value of wisdom and understanding.

3. Israel
The original audience of Proverbs, the people of Israel, were encouraged to seek wisdom as a means to live righteously and in accordance with God's will.
Teaching Points
The Value of Loving Wisdom
Loving wisdom is not just an intellectual pursuit but a heartfelt commitment. It involves prioritizing God's truth and guidance in our lives.

Spiritual and Material Blessings
While the verse speaks of wealth, it is important to understand that the blessings of wisdom are both spiritual and material. True wealth includes peace, understanding, and a right relationship with God.

The Role of Obedience
Loving wisdom implies obedience to God's commands. As we align our lives with His principles, we open ourselves to His blessings.

Wisdom as a Lifelong Pursuit
Seeking wisdom is a continuous journey. It requires daily dedication to learning and applying God's Word in our lives.

Trusting in God's Provision
The promise of full treasuries reminds us to trust in God's provision. As we seek His wisdom, we can be confident that He will meet our needs.(21) That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance.--The work which each one by my help shall do will be stored up for him in heaven (Matthew 6:20), it will be as "gold tried in the fire" (Revelation 3:18), which will abide the trial of "the day" (1Corinthians 3:13).

Verse 21. - That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; יֵשׁ (yesh), ὕπαρξις, "real, valuable possessions." Those who love Wisdom will walk in her path, follow her leading, and therefore, doing God's will, will be blessed with success. Such will lay up treasure in heaven, will provide bags which wax not old, will be preparing for "an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away" (Matthew 6:20; Luke 12:33; 1 Peter 1:4). The LXX. here inserts a paragraph as a kind of introduction to the important section which follows: "If I declare unto you the things which daily befall, I will remember to recount the things of eternity;" i.e. thus far I have spoken of the advantages derived from Wisdom in daily circumstances; now I proceed to narrate her origin and her doings from all eternity. But the addition appears awkward, and is probably not now in its original position.
