Genesis 36:13
These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They are the grandsons of Esau's wife Basemath.
These are the sons of Reuel:

Reuel, whose name means “friend of God,” was Esau’s son by Basemath, linking Esau’s family with the line of Ishmael. His descendants became part of the developing Edomite nation, fulfilling God’s word that Esau also would become a great people. Though Jacob carried the covenant promise, God did not disregard Esau or the family that came from him.

1Ch 1:35 The sons of Esau: Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
Mal 1:2-3 “I have loved you,” says the LORD. But you ask……

Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.

These four sons established family divisions within Edom. Their names appear in the genealogical record because God preserves the history of nations as well as individuals. Edom’s later relationship with Israel was often marked by conflict, yet the Edomites remained Israel’s near relatives through Esau..

1Ch 1:37 The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
1Ch 6:26 Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son,

They are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.

Basemath was the daughter of Ishmael and the sister of Nebaioth, joining Esau’s household to another branch of Abraham’s family. Her descendants show that Abraham’s offspring spread into many peoples, while God’s covenant line continued specifically through Isaac and Jacob.
