Psalm 149

Sing to Yahweh a New Song
(Psalm 98:1–9; Isaiah 42:10–17)

הַ֥לְלוּ (Hallelu) יָ֨הּ׀ (YAH)!

שִׁ֣ירוּ (Sing) לַֽ֭יהוָה (to YHWH) שִׁ֣יר (a song) חָדָ֑שׁ (new),

תְּ֝הִלָּת֗וֹ (His praise) בִּקְהַ֥ל (in the assembly) חֲסִידִֽים׃ (of the holy ones).

2  יִשְׂמַ֣ח (Let rejoice) יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל (Israel) בְּעֹשָׂ֑יו (in his Maker);

בְּנֵֽי־ (the sons) צִ֝יּ֗וֹן (of Zion) יָגִ֥ילוּ (let rejoice) בְמַלְכָּֽם׃ (in their King).

3  יְהַֽלְל֣וּ (Let them praise) שְׁמ֣וֹ (His name) בְמָח֑וֹל (with dancing);

בְּתֹ֥ף (with tambourine) וְ֝כִנּ֗וֹר (and harp) יְזַמְּרוּ־ (let them make music) לֽוֹ׃ (to Him).

4  כִּֽי־ (For) רוֹצֶ֣ה (delights) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) בְּעַמּ֑וֹ (in His people);

יְפָאֵ֥ר (He adorns) עֲ֝נָוִ֗ים (the humble) בִּישׁוּעָֽה׃ (with salvation).

5  יַעְלְז֣וּ (Let exult) חֲסִידִ֣ים (let the holy ones) בְּכָב֑וֹד (in His glory);

יְ֝רַנְּנ֗וּ (let them sing for joy) עַל־ (upon) מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָֽם׃ (their beds).

6  רוֹמְמ֣וֹת (Let the high praises) אֵ֭ל (of God) בִּגְרוֹנָ֑ם (be in their throat),

וְחֶ֖רֶב (and a sword) פִּֽיפִיּ֣וֹת (two-edged) בְּיָדָֽם׃ (in their hand),

7  לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to execute) נְ֭קָמָה (vengeance) בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם (on the nations)

תּֽ֝וֹכֵחֹ֗ת (and punishments) בַּל־ (against) אֻמִּֽים׃ (the peoples),

8  לֶאְסֹ֣ר (to bind) מַלְכֵיהֶ֣ם (their kings) בְּזִקִּ֑ים (with chains)

וְ֝נִכְבְּדֵיהֶ֗ם (and their nobles) בְּכַבְלֵ֥י (with shackles) בַרְזֶֽל׃ (of iron),

9  לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת (to execute) בָּהֶ֨ם׀ (against them) מִשְׁפָּ֬ט (the judgment) כָּת֗וּב (written);

הָדָ֣ר (an honor) ה֭וּא (it is) לְכָל־ (for all) חֲסִידָ֗יו (His holy ones).

הַֽלְלוּ־ (Praise) יָֽהּ׃ (YAH)!
