Send Out Your Light

שָׁפְטֵ֤נִי (Judge for me), אֱלֹהִ֨ים׀ (O God), וְרִ֘יבָ֤ה (and plead) רִיבִ֗י (my cause)

מִגּ֥וֹי (from a nation) לֹא־ (not) חָסִ֑יד (faithful).

מֵ֤אִישׁ־ (From a man) מִרְמָ֖ה (of deceit) וְעַוְלָ֣ה (and injustice) תְפַלְּטֵֽנִי׃ (may You deliver me).

2  כִּֽי־ (For) אַתָּ֤ה׀ (You are) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (the God) מָֽעוּזִּי֮ (of my strength).

לָמָ֪ה (Why) זְנַ֫חְתָּ֥נִי (have You rejected me)?

לָֽמָּה־ (Why) קֹדֵ֥ר (in mourning) אֶתְהַלֵּ֗ךְ (must I go about)

בְּלַ֣חַץ (in the oppression) אוֹיֵֽב׃ (of the enemy)?

3  שְׁלַח־ (Send forth) אוֹרְךָ֣ (Your light) וַ֭אֲמִתְּךָ (and Your truth),

הֵ֣מָּה (they) יַנְח֑וּנִי (shall guide me).

יְבִיא֥וּנִי (Let them bring me) אֶל־ (to) הַֽר־ (the mountain) קָ֝דְשְׁךָ֗ (of Your holiness),

וְאֶל־ (and to) מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ (Your dwelling place).

4  וְאָב֤וֹאָה׀ (And I would come) אֶל־ (to) מִזְבַּ֬ח (the altar) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (of God),

אֶל־ (to) אֵל֮ (God) שִׂמְחַ֪ת (the joy) גִּ֫ילִ֥י (of my rejoicing).

וְאוֹדְךָ֥ (And I will praise you) בְכִנּ֗וֹר (with the harp),

אֱלֹהִ֥ים (O God), אֱלֹהָֽי׃ (my God).

5  מַה־ (Why) תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י׀ (are you cast down), נַפְשִׁי֮ (O my soul),

וּֽמַה־ (and why) תֶּהֱמִ֪י (are you disquieted) עָ֫לָ֥י (within me)?

הוֹחִ֣ילִי (Wait) לֵֽ֭אלֹהִים (for God), כִּי־ (for) ע֣וֹד (still) אוֹדֶ֑נּוּ (I will praise Him),

יְשׁוּעֹ֥ת (the salvation) פָּ֝נַ֗י (of my face), וֵֽאלֹהָֽי׃ (and my God).
