Romans 10

King James BibleNew Living Translation
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.1Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved.
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.2I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal.
For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.3For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.4For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. Salvation Is for Everyone
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.5For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)6But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven?’ (to bring Christ down to earth).
Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)7And don’t say, ‘Who will go down to the place of the dead?’ (to bring Christ back to life again).”
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;8In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.9If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.10For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.11As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.12Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.13For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?14But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!15And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?16But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “LORD, who has believed our message?”
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.17So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.18But I ask, have the people of Israel actually heard the message? Yes, they have: “The message has gone throughout the earth, and the words to all the world.”
But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.19But I ask, did the people of Israel really understand? Yes, they did, for even in the time of Moses, God said, “I will rouse your jealousy through people who are not even a nation. I will provoke your anger through the foolish Gentiles.”
But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.20And later Isaiah spoke boldly for God, saying, “I was found by people who were not looking for me. I showed myself to those who were not asking for me.”
But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.21But regarding Israel, God said, “All day long I opened my arms to them, but they were disobedient and rebellious.”
