NASB Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.1Now on the topic of times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you.
For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.2For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night.
While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.3Now when they are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would.
for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;5For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness.
so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.6So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober.
For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.7For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.8But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation.
For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,9For God did not destine us for wrath but for gaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.10He died for us so that whether we are alert or asleep we will come to life together with him.
Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.11Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.
But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction,12Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you,
and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another.13and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.14And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.
See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.15See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.
Rejoice always;16Always rejoice,
pray without ceasing;17constantly pray,
in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.18in everything give thanks. For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not quench the Spirit;19Do not extinguish the Spirit.
do not despise prophetic utterances.20Do not treat prophecies with contempt.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;21But examine all things; hold fast to what is good.
abstain from every form of evil.22Stay away from every form of evil.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.23Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.24He who calls you is trustworthy, and he will in fact do this.
Brethren, pray for us.25Brothers and sisters, pray for us too.
Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.26Greet all the brothers and sisters with a holy kiss.
I adjure you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.27I call on you solemnly in the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
