They also saw that Jesus had not boarded the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone off alone. |
| 23however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks— | 23Some boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. |
| 24when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. | 24When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum looking for Jesus. |
| 25And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?” | 25When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?" |
| 26Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. | 26Jesus answered, "Truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled. |
| 27Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” | 27Don't work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal of approval on him." |
| 28Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” | 28"What can we do to perform the works of God?" they asked. |

| 30Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? | 30"What sign, then, are you going to do so we may see and believe you?" they asked. "What are you going to perform? |
| 31Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” | 31Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat." |
| 32Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. | 32Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, Moses didn't give you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. |

| 43Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. | 43Jesus answered them, "Stop complaining among yourselves. |

| 53Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. | 53So Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves. |
| 54Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. | 54The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day, |
| 55For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. | 55because my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. |

| 61When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? | 61Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were complaining about this, asked them, "Does this offend you? |
| 62What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? | 62Then what if you were to observe the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? |
| 63It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. | 63The Spirit is the one who gives life. The flesh doesn't help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. |
| 64But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. | 64But there are some among you who don't believe." (For Jesus knew from the beginning those who did not believe and the one who would betray him.) |
| 65And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” | 65He said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted to him by the Father." |
| 66From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. | 66From that moment many of his disciples turned back and no longer accompanied him. |
| 67Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” | 67So Jesus said to the Twelve, "You don't want to go away too, do you?" |
| 68But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. | 68Simon Peter answered, "Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. |
| 69Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” | 69We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." |
| 70Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” | 70Jesus replied to them, "Didn't I choose you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil." |
| 71He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve. | 71He was referring to Judas, Simon Iscariot's son, one of the Twelve, because he was going to betray him. |
