Romans 10

New King James VersionNew International Version
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.1Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.2For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.
For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.3Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.4Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”5Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: "The person who does these things will live by them."
But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above)6But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down)
or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).7"or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.9If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”11As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame."
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”15And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “ LORD, who has believed our report?”16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."
But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: “I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.”19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding."
But Isaiah is very bold and says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me; I was made manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”20And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."
But to Israel he says: “All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient and contrary people.”21But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."
