1 Then the man led me out northward into the outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple courtyard and the outer wall on the north side. Then he led me out into the outer court, toward the north, and he brought me to the chambers that were opposite the separate yard and opposite the building on the north. Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that <i>was</i> over against the separate place, and which <i>was</i> before the building toward the north. Then he brought me out into the outer courtyard, the way toward the north; and he brought me to the chamber which <i>was</i> opposite the separate area and opposite the building toward the north. Then the man led me northward into the outer court and brought me to the rooms opposite the temple courtyard and opposite the outer wall on the north side.
2 The building with the door facing north was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide. The length of the building whose door faced north was a hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty cubits. Before the length of an hundred cubits <i>was</i> the north door, and the breadth <i>was</i> fifty cubits. Along the length, <i>which was</i> a hundred cubits, <i>was</i> the north door; the width <i>was</i> fifty cubits. The building whose door faced north was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide.
3 Gallery faced gallery in three levels opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court. Facing the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court, and facing the pavement that belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in three stories. Over against the twenty <i>cubits</i> which <i>were</i> for the inner court, and over against the pavement which <i>was</i> for the utter court, <i>was</i> gallery against gallery in three <i>stories</i>. Opposite the twenty <i>cubits</i> which <i>belonged</i> to the inner courtyard, and opposite the stone pavement which <i>belonged</i> to the outer courtyard, <i>was</i> gallery corresponding to gallery in three <i>stories.</i> Both in the section twenty cubits from the inner court and in the section opposite the pavement of the outer court, gallery faced gallery at the three levels.
4 In front of the chambers was an inner walkway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north. And before the chambers was a passage inward, ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long, and their doors were on the north. And before the chambers <i>was</i> a walk of ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors toward the north. In front of the chambers <i>was</i> an inner passage ten cubits wide, a way of one <i>hundred</i> cubits; and their openings <i>were</i> on the north. In front of the rooms was an inner passageway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north.
5 Now the upper chambers were smaller because the galleries took more space from the chambers on the lower and middle floors of the building. Now the upper chambers were narrower, for the galleries took more away from them than from the lower and middle chambers of the building. Now the upper chambers <i>were</i> shorter: for the galleries were higher than these, than the lower, and than the middlemost of the building. Now the upper chambers <i>were</i> smaller because the galleries took more <i>space</i> away from them than from the lower and middle ones in the building. Now the upper rooms were narrower, for the galleries took more space from them than from the rooms on the lower and middle floors of the building.
6 For they were arranged in three stories, and unlike the courts, they had no pillars. So the upper chambers were set back further than the lower and middle floors. For they were in three stories, and they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts. Thus the upper chambers were set back from the ground more than the lower and the middle ones. For they <i>were</i> in three <i>stories</i>, but had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore <i>the building</i> was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground. For they <i>were</i> in three <i>stories</i> and had no pillars like the pillars of the courtyards; for that reason <i>the upper chambers</i> were set back from the ground <i>upward,</i> more than the lower and middle ones. The rooms on the top floor had no pillars, as the courts had; so they were smaller in floor space than those on the lower and middle floors.
7 An outer wall in front of the chambers was fifty cubits long and ran parallel to the chambers and the outer court. And there was a wall outside parallel to the chambers, toward the outer court, opposite the chambers, fifty cubits long. And the wall that <i>was</i> without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the forepart of the chambers, the length thereof <i>was</i> fifty cubits. As for the outer wall by the side of the chambers, toward the outer courtyard facing the chambers, its length <i>was</i> fifty cubits. There was an outer wall parallel to the rooms and the outer court; it extended in front of the rooms for fifty cubits.
8 For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long. For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those opposite the nave were a hundred cubits long. For the length of the chambers that <i>were</i> in the utter court <i>was</i> fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple <i>were</i> an hundred cubits. For the length of the chambers which <i>were</i> in the outer courtyard <i>was</i> fifty cubits; and behold, <i>the length of those</i> facing the main room <i>was</i> a hundred cubits. While the row of rooms on the side next to the outer court was fifty cubits long, the row on the side nearest the sanctuary was a hundred cubits long.
9 And below these chambers was the entrance on the east side as one enters them from the outer court. Below these chambers was an entrance on the east side, as one enters them from the outer court. And from under these chambers <i>was</i> the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court. And below these chambers <i>was</i> the entrance on the east side, as one enters them from the outer courtyard. The lower rooms had an entrance on the east side as one enters them from the outer court.
10 On the south side along the length of the wall of the outer court were chambers adjoining the courtyard and opposite the building, In the thickness of the wall of the court, on the south also, opposite the yard and opposite the building, there were chambers The chambers <i>were</i> in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building. In the thickness of the wall of the courtyard toward the east, facing the separate area and facing the building, <i>there were</i> chambers. On the south side along the length of the wall of the outer court, adjoining the temple courtyard and opposite the outer wall, were rooms

12 And corresponding to the doors of the chambers that were facing south, there was a door in front of the walkway that was parallel to the wall extending eastward. as were the entrances of the chambers on the south. There was an entrance at the beginning of the passage, the passage before the corresponding wall on the east as one enters them. And according to the doors of the chambers that <i>were</i> toward the south <i>was</i> a door in the head of the way, <i>even</i> the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them. Corresponding to the openings of the chambers which were toward the south was an opening at the head of the way, the way in front of the wall toward the east, as one enters them. were the doorways of the rooms on the south. There was a doorway at the beginning of the passageway that was parallel to the corresponding wall extending eastward, by which one enters the rooms.
13 Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings — the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings— for the place is holy. Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers opposite the yard are the holy chambers, where the priests who approach the LORD shall eat the most holy offerings. There they shall put the most holy offerings—the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering—for the place is holy. Then said he unto me, The north chambers <i>and</i> the south chambers, which <i>are</i> before the separate place, they <i>be</i> holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place <i>is</i> holy. Then he said to me, “The north chambers <i>and</i> the south chambers, which are opposite the separate area, they are the holy chambers where the priests who are near to the LORD shall eat the most holy things. There they shall set the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering; for the place is holy. Then he said to me, “The north and south rooms facing the temple courtyard are the priests’ rooms, where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will put the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
14 Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.” When the priests enter the Holy Place, they shall not go out of it into the outer court without laying there the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They shall put on other garments before they go near to that which is for the people.” When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy <i>place</i> into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they <i>are</i> holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to <i>those things</i> which <i>are</i> for the people. When the priests enter, they shall not go out into the outer courtyard from the sanctuary without laying their garments there in which they minister, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments; then they shall approach that which is for the people.” Once the priests enter the holy precincts, they are not to go into the outer court until they leave behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they go near the places that are for the people.”
15 Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around: Now when he had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and measured the temple area all around. 16 With a measuring rod he measured the east side to be five hundred cubits long. He measured the east side with the measuring reed, 500 cubits by the measuring reed all around. He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about. He measured on the east side with the measuring rod: five hundred rods by the measuring rod. He measured the east side with the measuring rod; it was five hundred cubits.
17 He measured the north side to be five hundred cubits long. He measured the north side, 500 cubits by the measuring reed all around. He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about. He measured on the north side: five hundred rods by the measuring rod. He measured the north side; it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.
18 He measured the south side to be five hundred cubits long. He measured the south side, 500 cubits by the measuring reed. He measured the south side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed. On the south side he measured five hundred rods with the measuring rod. He measured the south side; it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.
19 And he came around and measured the west side to be five hundred cubits long. Then he turned to the west side and measured, 500 cubits by the measuring reed. He turned about to the west side, <i>and</i> measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. He turned to the west side <i>and</i> measured five hundred rods with the measuring rod. Then he turned to the west side and measured; it was five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.
20 So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common. He measured it on the four sides. It had a wall around it, 500 cubits long and 500 cubits broad, to make a separation between the holy and the common. He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred <i>reeds</i> long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place. He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall all around, the length five hundred <i>rods</i> and the width five hundred, to divide between the holy and the common.
