In Matthew 28:19-20, known as the Great Commission, He instructs them, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you." This mission underscores the global and transformative nature of discipleship.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in the life of a disciple. In John 14:26, Jesus promises, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you." The Holy Spirit empowers, guides, and sustains disciples in their journey of faith.

Community and Fellowship

Discipleship is not a solitary endeavor but is lived out in community. The early church, as described in Acts 2:42, "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." This communal aspect of discipleship fosters growth, accountability, and mutual support among believers.

Perseverance and Reward

Disciples are called to persevere in their faith despite trials and tribulations. In Revelation 2:10, Jesus encourages, "Be faithful, even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life." The promise of eternal life serves as a reward for those who remain steadfast in their commitment to Christ.
