The Presence of Yahweh
(Acts 2:14–36)

מִכְתָּ֥ם (A Miktam) לְדָוִ֑ד (of David).

1שָֽׁמְרֵ֥נִי (Preserve me), אֵ֝֗ל (O God),

כִּֽי־ (for) חָסִ֥יתִי (I take refuge) בָֽךְ׃ (in You).

2  אָמַ֣רְתְּ (I said) לַֽ֭יהוָה (to YHWH), אֲדֹנָ֣י (My Lord) אָ֑תָּה (You are).

ט֝וֹבָתִ֗י (My goodness) בַּל־ (is nothing) עָלֶֽיךָ׃ (apart from You).

3  לִ֭קְדוֹשִׁים (As for the holy ones) אֲשֶׁר־ (who are) בָּאָ֣רֶץ (in the land),

הֵ֑מָּה (they) וְ֝אַדִּירֵ֗י (and the excellent ones),

כָּל־ (all) חֶפְצִי־ (my delight) בָֽם׃ (is in them).

4  יִרְבּ֥וּ (May they be multiplied) עַצְּבוֹתָם֮ (their sorrows)

אַחֵ֪ר (another) מָ֫הָ֥רוּ (they hurry after).

בַּל־ (Not) אַסִּ֣יךְ (will I pour out) נִסְכֵּיהֶ֣ם (their drink offerings) מִדָּ֑ם (from blood),

וּֽבַל־ (and not) אֶשָּׂ֥א (will I lift up) אֶת־ (-) שְׁ֝מוֹתָ֗ם (their names) עַל־ (upon) שְׂפָתָֽי׃ (my lips).

5  יְֽהוָ֗ה (YHWH you) מְנָת־ (is the portion) חֶלְקִ֥י (of my share) וְכוֹסִ֑י (and my cup);

אַ֝תָּ֗ה (You are) תּוֹמִ֥יךְ (the One upholding) גּוֹרָלִֽי׃ (my lot).

6  חֲבָלִ֣ים (The lines) נָֽפְלוּ־ (have fallen) לִ֭י (to me) בַּנְּעִמִ֑ים (in the pleasant places);

אַף־ (indeed), נַ֝חֲלָ֗ת (an inheritance) שָֽׁפְרָ֥ה (pleasing) עָלָֽי׃ (is unto me).

7  אֲבָרֵ֗ךְ (I will bless) אֶת־ (-) יְ֭הוָה (YHWH), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) יְעָצָ֑נִי (counsels me);

אַף־ (even) לֵ֝יל֗וֹת (in the nights) יִסְּר֥וּנִי (instruct me) כִלְיוֹתָֽי׃ (my kidneys).

8  שִׁוִּ֬יתִי (I have set) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) לְנֶגְדִּ֣י (before me) תָמִ֑יד (continually);

כִּ֥י (because) מִֽ֝ימִינִ֗י (He is at my right hand), בַּל־ (not) אֶמּֽוֹט׃ (I will be shaken).

9  לָכֵ֤ן׀ (Therefore) שָׂמַ֣ח (is glad), לִ֭בִּי (my heart) וַיָּ֣גֶל (and rejoices) כְּבוֹדִ֑י (my glory);

אַף־ (also) בְּ֝שָׂרִ֗י (my flesh) יִשְׁכֹּ֥ן (will dwell) לָבֶֽטַח׃ (securely).

10  כִּ֤י׀ (For) לֹא־ (not) תַעֲזֹ֣ב (will You abandon) נַפְשִׁ֣י (my soul) לִשְׁא֑וֹל (to Sheol),

לֹֽא־ (and not) תִתֵּ֥ן (will You give for) חֲ֝סִידְךָ֗ (Your Holy one) לִרְא֥וֹת (to see) שָֽׁחַת׃ (corruption).

11  תּֽוֹדִיעֵנִי֮ (You make known to me) אֹ֤רַח (the path) חַ֫יִּ֥ים (of life);

שֹׂ֣בַע (fullness) שְׂ֭מָחוֹת (of joys) אֶת־ (is) פָּנֶ֑יךָ (with Your face).

נְעִמ֖וֹת (Pleasant things) בִּימִינְךָ֣ (are at Your right hand) נֶֽצַח׃ (forever).
