Hear My Righteous Plea

תְּפִלָּ֗ה (A Prayer) לְדָ֫וִ֥ד (of David).

1שִׁמְעָ֤ה (Hear), יְהוָ֨ה׀ (O YHWH), צֶ֗דֶק (a just cause);

הַקְשִׁ֥יבָה (attend to) רִנָּתִ֗י (my cry),

הַאֲזִ֥ינָה (give ear to) תְפִלָּתִ֑י (my prayer)

בְּ֝לֹ֗א (without) שִׂפְתֵ֥י (lips) מִרְמָֽה׃ (of deceit).

2  מִ֭לְּפָנֶיךָ (From before Your face) מִשְׁפָּטִ֣י (my judgment) יֵצֵ֑א (let come forth);

עֵ֝ינֶ֗יךָ (Your eyes) תֶּחֱזֶ֥ינָה (let see) מֵישָׁרִֽים׃ (uprightness).

3  בָּ֘חַ֤נְתָּ (You have tested) לִבִּ֨י׀ (my heart);

פָּ֘קַ֤דְתָּ (You have inspected) לַּ֗יְלָה (in the night).

צְרַפְתַּ֥נִי (You have refined me), בַל־ (without) תִּמְצָ֑א (Your finding);

זַ֝מֹּתִ֗י (for I have purposed) בַּל־ (that not) יַעֲבָר־ (shall transgress) פִּֽי׃ (my mouth).

4  לִפְעֻלּ֣וֹת (As for the works) אָ֭דָם (of men),

בִּדְבַ֣ר (by the word) שְׂפָתֶ֑יךָ (of Your lips)

אֲנִ֥י (I) שָׁ֝מַ֗רְתִּי (have kept away) אָרְח֥וֹת (from the paths) פָּרִֽיץ׃ (of a violent one).

5  תָּמֹ֣ךְ (To uphold) אֲ֭שֻׁרַי (my steps) בְּמַעְגְּלוֹתֶ֑יךָ (on Your paths);

בַּל־ (not) נָמ֥וֹטּוּ (are shaken) פְעָמָֽי׃ (my footsteps).

6  אֲנִֽי־ (I) קְרָאתִ֣יךָ (call on You),

כִֽי־ (for) תַעֲנֵ֣נִי (You will answer me), אֵ֑ל (O God).

הַֽט־ (Incline) אָזְנְךָ֥ (Your ear) לִ֝֗י (to me);

שְׁמַ֣ע (hear) אִמְרָתִֽי׃ (my word).

7  הַפְלֵ֣ה (Set apart) חֲ֭סָדֶיךָ (Your loving devotion)

מוֹשִׁ֣יעַ (You who save) חוֹסִ֑ים (those taking refuge) מִ֝מִּתְקוֹמְמִ֗ים (from the assailants),

בִּֽימִינֶֽךָ׃ (with Your right hand).

8  שָׁ֭מְרֵנִי (May you guard me) כְּאִישׁ֣וֹן (as the pupil) בַּת־ (the daughter) עָ֑יִן (of Your eye);

בְּצֵ֥ל (in the shadow) כְּ֝נָפֶ֗יךָ (of Your wings) תַּסְתִּירֵֽנִי׃ (hide me).

9  מִפְּנֵ֣י (From) רְ֭שָׁעִים (wicked ones) ז֣וּ (who) שַׁדּ֑וּנִי (would ruin me)—

אֹיְבַ֥י (my enemies) בְּ֝נֶ֗פֶשׁ (in soul) יַקִּ֥יפוּ (go around) עָלָֽי׃ (against me).

10  חֶלְבָּ֥מוֹ (Their fat) סָּגְר֑וּ (they have closed up);

פִּ֝֗ימוֹ (their mouths) דִּבְּר֥וּ (they speak) בְגֵאֽוּת׃ (with pride).

11  אַ֭שֻּׁרֵינוּ (In our steps) עַתָּ֣ה (now) סְבָבוּנִי (they have surrounded us);

עֵינֵיהֶ֥ם (their eyes) יָ֝שִׁ֗יתוּ (they have set) לִנְט֥וֹת (to cast us) בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ (to the ground)—

12  דִּמְיֹנ֗וֹ (his likeness) כְּ֭אַרְיֵה (is as a lion) יִכְס֣וֹף (longing) לִטְר֑וֹף (to tear),

וְ֝כִכְפִ֗יר (and like a young lion) יֹשֵׁ֥ב (lurking) בְּמִסְתָּרִֽים׃ (in hidden places).

13  קוּמָ֤ה (Arise), יְהוָ֗ה (O YHWH), קַדְּמָ֣ה (go before) פָ֭נָיו (his face);

הַכְרִיעֵ֑הוּ (cast him down);

פַּלְּטָ֥ה (and rescue) נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י (my soul) מֵרָשָׁ֥ע (from the wicked), חַרְבֶּֽךָ׃ (by your sword),

14  מִֽמְתִ֥ים (from men) יָדְךָ֨׀ (by Your hand), יְהוָ֡ה (O YHWH),

מִֽמְתִ֬ים (from men) מֵחֶ֗לֶד (of the world)—

חֶלְקָ֥ם (their portion) בַּֽחַיִּים֮ (is in this life).

וּצְפִינְךָ (And Your treasured ones) תְּמַלֵּ֪א (You fill) בִ֫טְנָ֥ם (their belly);

יִשְׂבְּע֥וּ (they are satisfied) בָנִ֑ים (with sons),

וְהִנִּ֥יחוּ (and they leave) יִ֝תְרָ֗ם (their remainder) לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶֽם׃ (to their children).

15  אֲנִ֗י (I) בְּ֭צֶדֶק (in righteousness) אֶחֱזֶ֣ה (will see) פָנֶ֑יךָ (Your face);

אֶשְׂבְּעָ֥ה (I will be satisfied), בְ֝הָקִ֗יץ (in my waking), תְּמוּנָתֶֽךָ׃ (with Your form).
