God’s name Is Great in Israel

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing). בִּנְגִינֹ֑ת (On stringed instruments). מִזְמ֖וֹר (A Psalm) לְאָסָ֣ף (of Asaph). שִֽׁיר׃ (A Song).

נוֹדָ֣ע (Is known) 1בִּֽיהוּדָ֣ה (in Judah) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God);

בְּ֝יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (in Israel) גָּד֥וֹל (great) שְׁמֽוֹ׃ (is His name).

2  וַיְהִ֣י (Is) בְשָׁלֵ֣ם (in Salem) סֻכּ֑וֹ (His tent),

וּמְע֖וֹנָת֣וֹ (and his dwelling place) בְצִיּֽוֹן׃ (in Zion).

3  שָׁ֭מָּה (There) שִׁבַּ֣ר (He broke) רִשְׁפֵי־ (the arrows) קָ֑שֶׁת (of the bow),

מָגֵ֬ן (the shield) וְחֶ֖רֶב (and sword) וּמִלְחָמָ֣ה (and weapon of war).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

4  נָ֭אוֹר (luminous are) אַתָּ֥ה (You),

אַדִּ֗יר (and majestic) מֵֽהַרְרֵי־ (from the mountains) טָֽרֶף׃ (of prey).

5  אֶשְׁתּוֹלְל֨וּ׀ (They became plunder) אַבִּ֣ירֵי (the mighty) לֵ֭ב (of heart); נָמ֣וּ (they have slept) שְׁנָתָ֑ם (their sleep);

וְלֹא־ (and not) מָצְא֖וּ (could find) כָל־ (any) אַנְשֵׁי־ (of the men) חַ֣יִל (of might) יְדֵיהֶֽם׃ (of their hands).

6  מִ֭גַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ (At Your rebuke), אֱלֹהֵ֣י (O God) יַעֲקֹ֑ב (of Jacob),

נִ֝רְדָּ֗ם (are lain asleep) וְרֶ֣כֶב (and both the rider) וָסֽוּס׃ (and horse).

7  אַתָּ֤ה׀ (You) נ֥וֹרָא (are to be feared)— אַ֗תָּה (You alone).

וּמִֽי־ (And who) יַעֲמֹ֥ד (can stand) לְפָנֶ֗יךָ (before Your face) מֵאָ֥ז (at the time) אַפֶּֽךָ׃ (of Your anger)?

8  מִ֭שָּׁמַיִם (From the heavens) הִשְׁמַ֣עְתָּ (You have sounded) דִּ֑ין (the judgment);

אֶ֖רֶץ (the earth) יָֽרְאָ֣ה (has feared) וְשָׁקָֽטָה׃ (and has been still)

9  בְּקוּם־ (at the rising) לַמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט (to the judgment) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (by God),

לְהוֹשִׁ֖יעַ (to bring salvation to) כָּל־ (all) עַנְוֵי־ (the lowly ones) אֶ֣רֶץ (of the earth).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

10  כִּֽי־ (for) חֲמַ֣ת (the wrath) אָדָ֣ם (of man) תּוֹדֶ֑ךָּ (shall praise You);

שְׁאֵרִ֖ית (with the remainder) חֵמֹ֣ת (of wrath) תַּחְגֹּֽר׃ (You gird Yourself).

11  נִֽדֲר֣וּ (Make vows) וְשַׁלְּמוּ֮ (and fulfill them) לַיהוָ֪ה (to YHWH) אֱ‍ֽלֹהֵ֫יכֶ֥ם (your⁺ God);

כָּל־ (all) סְבִיבָ֑יו (around Him) יוֹבִ֥ילוּ (let them bring along) שַׁ֝֗י (tribute)

לַמּוֹרָֽא׃ (to the Fearsome One).

12  יִ֭בְצֹר (He takes away) ר֣וּחַ (the spirit) נְגִידִ֑ים (of princes);

נ֝וֹרָ֗א (He is feared) לְמַלְכֵי־ (by the kings) אָֽרֶץ׃ (of the earth).
