Deuteronomy 11
Lamsa Bible Par ▾
1THEREFORE you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his precepts, his statutes, his judgments, and his commandments, always. 2And know this day that I do not speak to your children who have not known and who have not seen the discipline of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm, 3And his signs, and his deeds, which he did in Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land; 4And what he did to the army of the Egyptians, to their horses and to their chariots and to their horsemen; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD has destroyed them to this day; 5And what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came into this place; 6And what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their children and their tents and everything which they had, as they stood on their feet in the midst of all Israel; 7But it is your eyes that have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.

8Therefore you shall keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that you may be strong and go in and possess the land which you are going over to possess; 9And that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land that flows with milk and honey. 10For the land into which you are entering to possess it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your feet, like a vegetable garden; 11But the land which you are going over to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, that drinks water of the rain from heaven; 12A land which the LORD your God cares for always; the eyes of the LORD your God are upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

13And if you shall hearken diligently to the commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14He will give you the rain of your land in its due season, the early rain and the latter rain, and you shall gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. 15And he will make grass to grow in your fields for your cattle, that you shall eat and be full. 16Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be enticed, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; 17And then the LORD'S anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain and that the land may not produce its fruit, and that you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD your God gives you.

18Therefore you shall lay up these commandments in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hands, that they may be a token between your eyes. 19And you shall teach them to your children, that they may talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20And you shall write them on the doorposts of your houses, and upon your gates; 21That your days and the days of your children, may be multiplied in the land which the LORD your God swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon earth. 22For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you this day, and do them, and love the LORD your God, and walk in all his ways, and cleave to him; 23Then the LORD will destroy all these nations from before you, and you shall possess nations greater and mightier than yourselves. 24Every place whereon the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the great river Euphrates, to the uttermost sea shall your territory be. 25There shall no man be able to stand before you; for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread, as he has said to you.

26Behold, I set before you this day blessings and curses; 27Blessings, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I am commanding you this day: 28And curses, if you will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, and if you turn aside from the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known.

29And it shall come to pass, when the LORD your God has brought you into the land whither you are entering to possess it, you shall put the blessings upon mount Gerizim, and the curses upon mount Gebel. 30Behold, they are on the other side of the Jordan, behind the way, toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites, who dwell in the low desert over against Gilgal, towards the house of the oak of Mamre. 31For you are to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell therein. 32And you shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
